How Do You Feel When You LOVE A Movie, But The Person Who Made It Is Scum?

I was thinking of people like Roman Polanski and Victor Salva...

That is an interesting question bloodrayne. When I saw the thread title, Roman Polanski was the first to come to mind. Personally, I let the movie speak for itself. Many in the movie industry do not possess high morals to start with, just some are more known than others.

I kinda think this mirrors Jerry Lee Lewis in the 1950s when he married his underaged cousin. Do you turn away from the form of art you love because you disagree with the morals of the artist? I think that is a question that has to be based individually and case by case.

I'm just glad that Woody Allen never made any good horror movies...lol

And I'm also glad that the type of movies Woody Allen DOES make...suck

I think you have to seperate the artist from his or her art, it's like an actor or actress for me, unless they start inserting their messages into their work I'm fine with it.

What does it say about our society though that though these people commit sickening crimes, they are still critically acclaimed and held in high regard in hollywood.

Yeah...I just have to ignore the 'politics'...Otherwise I'd have to give up some of my favorite movies...

THAT'S the dilemma...I love the movies but I hate that these guys are making money and gaining ANYTHING from them...Does that make us bad people?...Selfish?

Exactly. They go a little too far sometimes by inserting little bits of their beliefs or political stances into movies that don't need it.

Doesn't make one selfish to enjoy art. I think at times our society feels that we have a right to know the personal lives of actors/directors/musicians, but we get upset about cameras in malls.
