I need help REALLY badly...!!!

I'm doing a Catcher In The Rye project, and I have to make a cd of songs that relate to Holden's moods throughout the book, at different parts. Does anyone have any songs that can help?

If you've read the book and remember it, I need songs that relate to main points that reflect his moods and stuff. If you know of any ideas, it'd be much appreciated.

If you haven't read it, I need some song ideas for:

Depression
dropping out of school
worried about the future
turning down a whore (and getting beaten up for it)
death of a loved one
^Coping with it
jealousy over a girl
Reminiscing about a past crush
etc...

Only thing is> No metal/screaming nonstop/ rap/ etc.

Rock/ r-b, blues, jazz, etc, are fine.

Rotten Apple - Alice In Chains (It's metal, but a really mellow song)
