BSP: On the Lot
 

Alright, this is an amazing chance. Speilberg, or Spielberg, or whatever is holding a short film contest. 16 finalists get on a new reality series called On the Lot. The winner gets a million dollar development deal with Dreamworks. Yeah, you've probably heard about it. Well, we have a short script ready and I started shooting some lighting tests last night. Blood and gore tests are soon to follow and I start scouting my cast tonight. The story? Bloody Mary ring a bell? More to follow, I've got a shitload of work to do (deadline is Feb. 16).

Lighting tests went okay and I have two of my three cast members now. I need to do a quick rewrite on the script and buy all the shit I need. I went over to the On the Lot site and watched some of the other horror entries. These films are being done for like eight hundred dollars and more. What the hell!? It's a five minute film! I am on a budget of $50 and have a hell of a blood splattered scene to pull off (complete with a hemoraging neck wound) :D . I'll be happy if I even give the others a run for their money. At least then I could say that with their budget I could have blown them out of the water :p .

If you want any chance of winning you'll do something overly artsy that nobody understands.

What I'm actually hoping is that Bloody Mary will remind Spielberg about the day he saw TCM and said, "Get Tobe, and put him on Poltergiest. If I don't, I do like the most of the directors featured on Masters of Horror did when they couldn't get a break... make my own film and wait for it to achieve cult status.

A quick update on this project. The final draft of the script is done, lighting tests turned out good, my blood looks genuine, and I'm getting better at building cuts (from goddamn tissue paper no less...it really works). We are still looking for a third chick, but if I really need to I'll have my associate stand in and we'll do a boyfriend/girlfriend senario with more or less the same script.
