"Invaders from Mars" Question

Saw this a few days ago for the first time in YEARS...Of course, it didn't quite have the same effect on me as when I was a kid, but it was still a pretty cool bodysnatchers kinda film...I guess for a younger audience maybe?
There was a thread a while back asking for suggestions for scary/horror movies that would be ideal to introduce young people to horror with, if I didn't suggest this one already, I'd definately mention it now.
I liked the music, the film had a used, but cool concept...and I actually thought that for a film of this type, had pretty good atmosphere, and the aliens and ships, for the time of this film, I thought, were done very well.
Never knew Tobe Hooper did it though...surprised me when I saw that.
Anyways, anyone looking for a "fun" kinda "spooky" film (I won't call it horror), give it a look if you haven't already.
Discuss.

Ah, the question...the kid was watching what looked like a sci-fi horror movie, towards the beggining of the film...does anyone know what movie this footage was from? Looks interesting...has anyone seen said film? what's it like?

I'm not sure :(

As for talking about horror movies to introduce young people to I'd recommend The Gate :)

That and Cannibal Holocaust...:P

I think the footage was from the original Invaders From Mars? But my memory is all shot to hell so I'm probably dead wrong :D

critics bashed it hard - but i love it.

Phalanx 01-05-2007 02:42 AM

what's it about?

3 beings are found in a derilect spaceship discovered in the tail of haileys comet (or some comet)

it takes place in the future when man will supposedly be able to have the technology to get there.

the beings are brought back to earth where all hell breaks loose.

it has a 'zombie apocolypse' vibe to it.

coincidentally i'm reading the novel it was based on right now (the space vampires - colin wilson)
