Is copyright a concern?
If not, the Game Quake has some great mood music. Its actually more ambient noise than music. American McGee's alice has some great music too.

if i use a song in my movie and credit the artist in the credits, is that copywrite infringment?

damnit thats BS. i wanted Sub Rosa to see what they thought of my film maybe id get a release(its better than most of their stuff) but im using some underground ambience artists.:(

It's not BS...it's the way it works. Get a composer. Or, if you need it real fast, a good, low-priced source you can check out is:

www.shockwavesound.com

Easy licensing deals and music you can download and use within hours.

Sorry, dude. Riff and Crabapple are right. You need to secure rights to any music used in a film, tv or any other media. Use of someone else's previosly recorded intellectual property without express written consent is a violation of copyright law.

I was lucky enough to put a couple of songs I wrote and recorded in a movie when I was a teen. Still get (paltry) royalty checks more than a decade later.:)

Best possible solution - you own the copyright of anything you write and you get to exercize even more control and creativity!
