Dead overdone sub-genres

The horror splatter deal has been done to death. Braindead/Bad Taste was cool once around as was Army of Darkness. This hybrid is totally bankrupt and is bringing the genre into disrepute.

It really sucks how Shaun of the Dead and Dead and Breakfast are held in higher regard (fuck.... this shits been labeled "innovative" ) while flicks like Malevolence go unnoticed.

I'm not against this device in horror but film makers have forgotten the subtlety that actually made this shit work in the first place.

But whatever Black Sheep and Jackass 2 are calling......

Whats wrong with Shaun of the dead? I thought it was funny as hell...

It's true. Subtlety goes a long way. Modern filmmakers have forgotten the lessons that the great movies like Halloween & Texas Chainsaw Massacre have taught us. Gore is good, but it has its place.

Everyone thinks that things have to be over the top these days. Look at all the stock people placed in Hostel, and it was a letdown. George Lucas seemed to think that having over 30 Digital effects in EVERY shot would make the movies good. It made them visually interesting, but that doesnt make a movie good.

I have never been a fan of gore, I usually think it is just a sleight of hand... "Cringe at the blood so you wont notice that the acting and movie suck."

This is my feelings on everyhting i have seen from Argento. Bright, fake blood, wide eyes, boring movie.

everything goes in cycles .. the trends follow the $$$ the way a mule follows the carrot on a stick ..

whatever you're sick of now will quickly be replaced by something you'll be sick of tomorrow :)

Perhaps the lame Office style humour. Fucking thing may aswell have been a pilot for some shit Romero influenced The Young Ones grow up rip off.

An episode of Bottom with some zombies would've owned this bullshit in about 25 minutes.

DONE BEFORE & WHACK..... *yawns*

I never saw the office, so that is probably a big difference. Anything from england has a certain appeal because it is different from what i am used to in america, so what is overdone crap over there, is new for me.

Hell, i have seen more than a few english people here say how tired they are of Sean Pertwee. To me, he is Sarge from Dog Soldiers, so i love it every time he shows up somewhere.
