Jason X

I had a rather heated argument with the wife last night about Jason X (yeah, I know... we're geeks) and I was arguing the point that Jason X is the best of the series because it's the purest distillation of the Jason character.

It is also the silliest/campiest installment of the franchise. The sleeping bag scene, the liquid nitrogen face-smash, the nanobots...inspired lunacy!

The wife was pointed out that Jason X was all comedy and, as such, no longer existed in the horror genre and doesn't quite count as a true slasher flick.

What do you say?

I d say Jason X is far better than some previous ones of the franchise...like pts. V, VII, VIII and IX.

At least they had a fresh idea when ejecting Jason into space and getting him resurrected in a spaceship in the future...

him hacking the life-like monster of the video game...

marines hunting him down...

the cyborg getting fully loaded like the Terminator...(sweetass kickass sequence) :D

I love that movie!!!

this movie is one of the great separators ..

a lot of love for it here on the forum but i fucking hated every second of it.

i dont find the cardboard cutout characters entertaining cheeze anymore.
you could say i 'dont get the joke' but i just dont think that particular joke is funny anymore.

it was the same old shit with the same bad kid actors, same effects ..

i just didnt think it brought anything new to the table - interchangeable with any other from the series.

the stale chiche tough chick android thing was the final straw for me.
i've see better performances and concepts in backyard plays.

hated hated hated hated it.

for me it wasnt a horror OR a comedy - juts a sad waste of my time.

Sounds like i wouldnt like it.... Urge knows how much i typically hate the style over substance approach, and if it even lacks style, no thank you.

you might like it .. a lot of people do appreciate it for the campiness..

(thats why i love Flash Gordon and other people hate it)

it just hit my negative buttons in particular.

i know why i should like it - and those reasons work for me in other films .. but this one i just rubbed me the wrong way..

Jason X was fun and that's it. People got cut up, there were some decent jokes, and a typical Friday 13th ending. How is a tough female android cliche? I've seen a few but not that many. I'm missing all the cool female android movies!!!! Michelle Rodriguez doesn't count.

I also hated everything in Jason X. To me, it looked like a horrible cross between a cheap (in the worst kind of way) horror movie and a cheap Sci-Fi television series. This one was a reeker all the way...

a couple are enough .. it was the 'commando' way it was presented .. the 'power up, weapons on, lets rock and roll' moment ..

really bugged me ... but like i said ... its a personal thing...
