I think from a previous thread (dvd regions) that a PAL dvd can only play on a dvd player which has been set up for the PAL system and a NTSC dvd can only play on a NTSC player.

Supposedly my dvd player (sanyo) can play both, but I haven't tried playing different types yet, but that's probably not the answer you where looking for. Sorry :(

i find that the cheaper the unit - the better a chance of it supporting pal/ntsc

usually there is a button on the remote that says p/n

there are cheap ass models at wal-mart all the time for under 30$

Most DVD PC software and hardware can play both NTSC and PAL; I couldn't tell you which ones however:(

As far as I can make out the only risk is that either the dvd won't play or the picture might be poor quality/loss of colour etc.

alrught ill take the chance...i dont have to worry about the picture qaulity being crappy either....its an Andreas Schnaas film:D :p
