Old school computer game....

I don't know what made me think of this, but....
When I was a kid(about 20 years ago) I use to play a game for the TRS-80 Color Computer(Goddamn I'm old!)called Dungeons Of Daggorath. It was a first-person dungeon-crawling type RPG. The first I ever played, and it got me hooked. I played that thing every chance I got. Within a year I was playing D&D(yes, what a nerd I was) with my friends older brother and some kids he knew. RPGs are still my favorite type of game.
Just curious if any of the other old folks here remember if they ever played this game....

I found this screenshot...

never played that one myself, but i too come from the land of d&d nerddom.

my first real exposure to rpgs on the computer (outside of sword of vermillion on the genesis) was a bundle that came with Azure Bonds, Dark Queen of krynn, Pool of radience, and i think pools of darkness.

I have since lost any sense of an attention span and pretty much onl;y play fps games.

Would LOVE some good old fashioned D&D sessions though. I miss sitting in smoke filled rooms swilling beer and pummeling my friends with swarms of sahaugin... ahh, the good old days.

I know the felling. I often long for the days of paper-and-pencil playing. I still have most of my D&D books and dice, but no one to play with. How sad.....

mine are mostly packaged up and in storage... i still ahve over 30 boxed sets and probably 50+ books for AD&D, battletech, shadowrun, rifts, Vampire....

I miss them. Once we get a bigger house and i get a real office, they are all going up in a big bookshelf.

Wow, this brings me back. i have D&D, Vampire the masquerade, Battletech, and something called Car Wars. And alas everyone is too cool to play them with me.

Does anyone else remember pure text games from Commodore 64 ( i think that was the system) I had a Dracula game where you wake up in a room in his castle and have to escape and I also had some pirate game, but I don't remember much about it. I think Steve Jackson made them.

Ah, we have come so far...

I remember text games, but I was never a big fan. I used to play so online in the early days of the internet.

I could still play AD&D if I felt like gaming with the people at my local comic shop. But something about being 30 and spending a Saturday afternoon in the comic shop playing AD&D......that's just not a nerd line I'm willing to cross.

being 30 playing ad&d in a comic shop with teenagers...

May as well get a tatoo on your forehead that says "I hate sex and love masturbating"

i would love to play, but i have generally enjoyed playing wioth people around my age, and at someone's house. Playing in a public setting just never sat well with me. Its like, I embrace my nerdishness, but i dont quite need that level of advertising. I feel like i should get beat up for lunch money, or get laughed at by teenage cheerleaders...

It'd be like High School all over again, and no one wants that.

I have no problem being nerdy either, but I agree that that level of public display of it is not needed. I'd feel too self conscience to enjoy myself. Playing with peers at someones house is just more comfortable and relaxing.
