First Day of School!

it's the first day of school for our 9 year-old. He's in the 4th grade now. I just love this time of year!

Today I'm baking gingerbread men - a first day of school family tradition. My mother made tHem for me and I've not yet missed a first-day!

Did any of you have first day of school traditions?

Oh, and I love picking out the new lunchbox for the school year!

Thanks, Punk

we just finished icing the gingerbread boys and ading all sorts of candies to decorate them. The eldest placed a pez (standing upright) in the chest of one of the cookies and surrounded it with red sprinkles, declaring "Look it's a chest-burster!"

so proud:)

Was first day for myself as well, Grade 11.

Went pretty well...I have pretty decent classes, mostly what I signed up for. Not in many classes with my friends, but that isnt really a bad thing...I'll actually pay attention this way:p.

Oh, and my homeroom teacher/ the director for our musical hinted at what the musucal is going to be this year:D. If I read his clue right ("We're just waiting for Micheal Jackson to give us the OK"), its gonna be The Wiz! Sooo cool!

I can't believe it's only your FIRST day of school. We've been back in session since mid-August. In fact, I have to submit mid-quarter grades this week.

BTW, Roderick Usher, I really like the gingerbread men tradition. That is something your kids will remember for the rest of their lives.

And, The_Return, I'm glad to hear you say that being away from your friends will help you focus. As a teacher I don't hear things like that often enough.

Hope the school year's a good one for all of you.

I was really disapointed in myself last year mark wise, so this year Im trying to buckled down. Not having my friends there to distract me is really going to help. Plus I have some of the best teachers in the school, which is awesome.

My English teacher has been voted Best Teacher in Town by a local poll at least a few times:)

My eight year old started school on August 15, so I've gotten used to him going again....but I still like it when he comes home. He's a good kid, and a really big help around the house.

Chestburster gingerbread men. Sounds like a great Christmas idea, I'll really freak Gramma out.
Thanks.:p
