red dot flash in silent hill
 

recently i have been seeing red dot formations appear on the screen during certain movies. the most recent was silent hill. they last only a frame but they are definately there. the first one i noticed was like this: oo

oo
oo

and the second like this: o
o
ooo
after i mentioned to a mate, he also saw a formation. it isnt the first time its happened to me. has anyone had this happen? and/or know what the hells going on?

are they bootlegs?

they are different to cigarette burns that appear in the top right hand side of the film before a splice. they are in the middle of the screen and are definately red dots in certain formations.

not bootlegs. was at the cinema.

was just searching for an answer and came across the 'color phi phenomenon'. has anyone heard of this? and do you think that could be it?

Freaky stuff. I've noticed dots before too (not the cigarette burns).

where they in formations? kinda like braille?

They put them on movies in theaters to discourage camera bootlegging. It's fucking stupid, I know.
