Hi, I'm Haunted

You guys know me, but I've never been to this part of the forum before, because I thought (because I'm silly) that it would be all about death metal and such.

Anyway...

I was wondering... I'm in the mood for some music, because it helps me write... I need some very creepy (nonelectric) music that instills a dark vibration. If there are vocals, I don't want to understand the language. Now I am sure that there is someone amongst you that knows a musical group such as this.

DeadCanDance works sometimes, but not enough, I need more.

Mood music. Wrack your brains.

Thank you.

A lot of Mars Volta songs are quite creepy, have an amazing story line, and are in Spanish.

Sigur Ros are very good, most of the time they sing in Icelandic, or something like that.

Goodspeed You! Black Emporer has no vocals.

Explosions in The Sky/Pelican aren't creepy, per say, but still set an awesome mood.

Hope that helps.

Lustmord
Thanatos
Vidna Obmana

These are the only groups I can think of off the top of my head, but you'd do well to check out any music within the dark ambient genre. Labels like Soleilmoon and Projekt sign a lot of this stuff.

Great suggestions!

I write to Sigur Ros and Explosions in the Sky all the time. I also write to "The Best of Hammer Horror" which is simply a collection of scores from thier legendary film catalogue.

Ooooh, someone who has not only heard of Explosions in the Sky and Sigur Ros, but actually listens to them. You have amazing taste in music, my friend.

Not really what you're looking for I suppose, but I usually put on a Danny Elfman score while I write. Though not his best work, I find the Spiderman scores are great mood music.
