What have I done????

I started my online Veterinary Technician course last night. Got a 95 on my first exam, but it was easy stuff - Independent Study. I'm waiting for the hard stuff - Anatomy and all that.

Am I insane going for a career change at age 47?????

No, you fucking rule for going for it. I've changed careers three times in my adult life and each time it sparked a period of personal growth (and fear) that has sustained me.

I wish you all the best in this endeavor - who better than a horror fan to master the knowledge of innards?

Kick as Hammer!

Always a plus to have one more skill under your belt. If it gives you another option, then it's a good thing and I agree, go for it!

Kick Ass too ;)

I personally have never seen anyone try to make atransition later in life that wasnt extremely successful as a result.

Not quite the same timeline, but when i was 25 i decided I HAD to finally get a job with computers. As a result, my income has progressed as follows:
(in $1000 yearly)
$16 (as a woodworker) to $28
$28 to $32

then in the same year:
$32 to $38
$38 to $47

$47 to $50

this year

$50 to $90 +

Follow your dream. I know it sounds cheesy, but if you are at all good at it, you will do great. now, all i need to do is have more time to write...

It's an admirable thing to do and shows you have great character.
I wish you all the best and more.
:)

Thanks, guys, I appreciate it!

This is something that has been gnawing at me for a long time. When I was going in the Air Force and took my ASVAB, vet tech was one of the jobs that I qualified for. At the time I was 23 and already working as a secretary. So, instead of going for my heart's desire, I took the "safe" route and went with what I was already doing. I can't help but think if I had gone for it back then, and with the Air Force paying for school, I could probably be a veterinarian by now. So, when I saw this online school I decided to go for it. You can't go through life regretting "what might have been", can you?! I'm scared as hell, but I'm going to stick with it!

I have no doubt you'll be successful. You're a smart cookie, and you'll be saving puppies and parakeets in no time at all.:)
