Scream
What effect did the success of Scream have on horror films during the 90's? I thought this would be a fun topic. Muhahaha.

every movie after scream has been a teen horror movie theres no way little teenagers would do anything to effect, leather face, freddy or jason they would all be to damn scared but after scream came out its like teens r now they new heros in horror they need to take it back to old school horror and forget the new teen way

Whats up with all of them portraying the teens as either having sex, had sex , or getting ready to or finishing sex in these flicks?
I mean I realize that teen and sex is damn near synonymous but I would like to believe that they could come up with some other activities they could be doing right before they are slashed to pieces. Hmmmmm or is it a hidden message? Have sex before its time and you will be beating to death and possibly eaten in a most distasteful manner? *borrowing moonsorrow's standard issue conspiracy theory on this one too* |
No way man, Scary Movie scared the shit out of me.... Scream was cool because it kept me guessing who was the killer until the end of the movie...

I'll admit, I liked Scream as well...the first time I saw it. Think about all those shitty wannabe's it spawned though. That's pretty much all the commercial (and some non-commercial) horror we got throughout the rest of the 90's. (a few gems did slip by though)
The thing that kills me about Scream though, is the cover art it created. After Scream, all movies had to do the "floating heads" thing. Let's not put any cool image on the cover, let's try and squeeze all the famous, pretty faces we can on this poster, even if their character only appears for 3 minutes. Hate those posters and box covers. |
