deadly friend

is this movie worthy of a thread??? we'll see. i saw this movie as a kid and really liked it. just recently i watched it again and still enjoy it... does this make me crazy? is my taste in the gutter?? will batman save the day??? what? but seriously, i like this early wes craven movie. did anyone else?

i also saw it as a kid and thought it sucked ass - but i'm open to seeing it again and reassessing my early impression. . . so i deem it 'thread-worthy' (hell, there are very few films that aren't thread-worthy and anything by craven is certainly worth discussing)

i saw it in the theatre when it came out .. wasnt keen on it at the time .. maybe now i'd see it differently ..

I saw it years ago. i thought it was bad enough to make Shocker look like a good Craven film.

LOL oh yeah with Kristy Swanson...I completly forgot about that movie until you posted about it. I think I still have it on a VHS I recorded from a long time ago. Thanks now I 'll go search for it

The only good part of that movie was the basketball scene. I remember rewinding that over & over as a kid.

It's good start to finish: the robot is ridiculous but quite endearing, the three friends are likeable characters (remember geeky Laborteaux from Whiz Kids, and Kristy Swanson is still hot), 'Elvira' from The Goonies is one seriously ugly old shotgun-wielding bag, the dad is a horrible bastard, the basketball scene is a showstopper and then there is the ending... ludicrous, improbable but still lots of fun.

Mostly, this film finally succeeds as a doomed horror love story. Not poncy stuff like Dracula, but more in the vein of the downbeat Return of the Living Dead III that followed.

Kinda like Corky from Life Goes On, retarded but loveable.

(I am burning in hell for that one...)

i've never seen this from start to finish
only caught the ending many moons ago

think flowers in the attic is a better swanson film

Fun movie nice attempt by craven to add a little something new to the teen horror film but not one of his best
