George Romero Dressed as Santa Claus

I had heard about this and finally, when watching the film for the hundredth time, I saw it.

In "Dawn of the Dead," George Romero and Christine Forrest Romero (according to them on the commentary track) dressed up as Santa Claus (him) and an elf (her) and ran through the famous pie-fight scene. When asked if the footage made it into the cut, Romero remarks that he thinks it was cut out at some point because it didn't make any sense, since none of the bikers would have been dressed as Santa.

However, if you watch the scene, there IS a moment when George Romero can be seen darting behind some other characters. You can see his face, and he is indeed wearing a Santa Claus costume.

It's funny as hell! It is better than the human arm holding the velociraptor's tail up in "Jurassic Park."

i remember once noticing the santa claus suit and thinking it was odd - didn't recognize the man inside.

i recently heard that he's coming to give a talk in my town sometime next year (we had wes craven at our local university a while back and crispin glove (tres bizarre) earlier this summer.

Too bad the zombie infection never breaks out around Christmas in the movies....a fleet of zombie Santas would be entertaining...

I caught Rob Zombie last year at Ozzfest on the second stage, when he was promoting Devil's Rejects....I was pretty disappointed. I think he's way more into his directorial stuff now than he is his music. I would have loved to catch him in the early days when he was still a wildman on stage. Still, it was entertaining.

If he ever decides to give movies a break and go back to serious arena entertainment, I'll be in the front row.
Unfortunately, I'll probably be 50 and he'll be 80.
