I'm sure there's a special edition in the works(at least there should be)the "Kubrick Collection" on the whole is'nt very impressive. It seems they did little more than slap his name on the boxes and call it finished.

Unfortunately Kubrick was a bit of a Technophile, The Shining has'nt even got an Anamorphic widescreen ratio & your stuck with the original 4.3 ratio as well as the stereo sound.
The Shining, Clockwork Orange, & FMJ are all crying out for SE, doubt we'll ever see them in the UK.

...And 2001. I'd like to hear commentary for 2001.

Yeah, well... there is a re-mastered edition of The Shining. Not sure which kind of audio track that has, but I can tell you the video itself is rather fucked-up. The aspect ratio is very odd, and that's because it was corrected to the right aspect ratio that Kubrick used when filming, which I was told was not a standard ratio.

..even if Kubrick had lived today..he would never do a commentary

you sure you ordered the correct one? cuz The Shining DVD released on June 12, 2001 does have Dolby digital 5.1 sound.

In addition to features like fullframe presentation, video and audio improvement, 30 minutes of on-screen documentary, audio commentary on the documentary by Vivian Kubrick (Stanley's daughter) and the trailer.

Yeah, I just browsed HMV the other day and they had quite a few copies, all with 5.1 DD...
