One of my friends has been bugging me to see this...is it any good? I dont usually mind films like this in small doses...

Usually I can stand musicals, although I'm not that keen on them.

Now I haven't seen this, but it just looked so damn cheesy. The trailer damn near made me sick.

However, I haven't seen it, and I try to hold judgement on movies until after I've actually given them a chance.

I just don't think I'll ever give this a chance.

It's a pretty faithful adaptation of the stage play(musical) with all but two original cast members(Rosario and Tracie were added for the film).It's a rock opera as they call it and even though it debuted in(I believe)95' it still remains relavent...though there are times it seems a little dated.

It deals with serious subject matter yet there were times I hard a hard time taking it seriously because...well,their singing about it.I suppose that's the problem alot of musical's have,though there is a fair amount of humor and dark comedy here to help balance it out.

I would say certainly worth the price of a rental fee...check it out.

Rosario Dawson, Taye Diggs, and Adam Pascal are all cool, and the rule of 3's dictates that it's at least worth a shot

The cast is all solid,there's no weak links there.

It was decent, but I didn't really like it, bgut I can recommend it.

You'll know Jesse Martin "Tom Collins" from Law & Order and he's slated to play Marvin Gaye in the upcoming "Sexual Healing" film.

Anthony Rapp "Mark" from Adventures in Babysitting,Dazed and Confused and A Beautiful Mind.

Idina Menzel is basically a stage performer turned actor,she'll be in Ask the Dust with Salma(*drools*)Hayek...I've read she's pretty good.

The other two Tracie Thoms and Wilson Heredia I really don't know anything about except they've both done some t.v.
