The Melting Pot
I'm going to eat here tomorrow The Melting Pot. Has anybody been here? I'm hoping for a nice night out but it looks so... different.

I like fondue too but if you look at the menu some of the stuff is pretty unusual. Honestly, at home I've never fondued (or fondone?) lobster tail or tiger shrimp. Anyway, it should be FUNdo! (Wow that was BAD lol.) You're right though, the resturaunt probably tells you how to do it perfectly.

I went tonight and everybody should go to a Melting Pot near them. There was so much food and it was such high quality stuff... the wine, the desert, it was all excellent. I'm stuffed.

You know, I've never done a fondue, and I think it would be fun...I have seen pictures of that, and I remember in the Sears catalogs of yesteryear they used to sell cool fondue kits. I have however been to one of those restaurants where they bring you a vat of boiling oil, you know, and you dip meats into it with a little fork until they're cooked...that was years ago too...I don't think those exist anymore, for several reasons......

Becareful with the coq-au-vin. If prepared improperly, it tastes like burning rubber.

As for the fondue thing...it's pretty much a trand that's kind of died out...they ARE fun though. I'd suggest simply buying the proper equipment and doing a few fondues yourself...they're very easy. It's not specifically meat either. Try some blanched vegetables, or seafood (I KNOW octopus would rock a fondue), it's just a matter of working out what goes with what. Just cheese is a little biring. Fruit dipped in hot chocolate fondue would probably go down well for dessert. You should be able to google quite a few recipe suggestions, if you're throwing a party/gathering though, just make sure you're aware of the required serving temperatures. |
