Fox 2000 Hires a Demon Keeper
Source: Variety January 25, 2006 Fox 2000 has bought rights to the upcoming Royce Buckingham novel Demon Keeper for a live-action film that will be produced by AEIAEI's Ken Atchity and ChiChi-Li Wong, reports Variety. The young adult novel will be published by Putnam in the fall. The story focuses on a Seattle teen who inherits a house filled with mischievous demons. The youth has to keep his charges in the house and thwart the Thin Man, a creepy character who wants to free and exploit them for evil purposes. AEI's Mike Kuciak will co-produce. "Royce not only has written a story with a distinctly different theory of demons, he's created a multimedia franchise with 'Harry Potter' potential," Atchity said. AEI is producing an adaptation of the Steve Alten novel Meg, with Jan De Bont directing a script draft by Shane Salerno at New Line, and is partnered with Alphaville and Richard Zanuck on Ripley's Believe It or Not!, a Tim Burton-directed Paramount tentpole that will star Jim Carrey. |
