I know some people have helped me out in this regard before, so here I am again with yet another miscellaneous problem.

I just bought a magazine that contained a demo dvd (for quake 4, among other things), and usually when I buy this publication, everything works just fine.
THIS time, it won't autoplay, and when I double-click the Edrive (that's my dvd drive) icon in the "my computer" area, I get a window that appears telling me
E:\ is not a valid Win32 Application
Nothing will open, and nothing will run from the dvd when I open it through the "explore" function.

So...what's happened?
How do I fix it?
Anyone?

looks like you are missing a file....repair windows in boot

ehhh or maybe you just have to reinstall the dvd program

The disc probably contains corrupt files, although there could be other issues.. check it's for 32 bit OS, not 64, the disc is scratched or needs cleaning. Is your DVD drive a writeable one, cd may not be compatible, try an alternat DVD drive.

slasherman, I'm not sure what you were talking about in the first thing you said, I may, however try exploring the second option.

Shanks, I don't think it's the dvds in question, I buy the publication regularly and as far as I know nothing's changed...to add to that theory, I also tried some of the old dvds from the same publication, and they won't work anymore either.
I keep getting the same message, regardless of what drive I put these dvds into, when I try to run them via the autorun option from My Computer,
E:\ is not a valid Win32 Application
OR
D:\ is not a valid Win32 Application
One is a dvd player, the other a dvd burner.
If I go in a little more manually, and explore the disk, none of the applications work, I get similar messages.
To add to all this, I dunno what the fuck's happened, but now no OTHER dvds/pc cds are running, when I open the pc cds, and execute, nothing whatsoever happens.
I have already tried a system restore past the point that I last successfully installed a game from a dvd, yet the same shit happens...so, what now?

I assume software/games already installed on your hard drive, that don't need a DVD/CD to be inserted, still run ok?

I don't really have any pc games installed at the moment, however, other applications, emulators and things like that, that have originally come off cds/dvds still work fine.

It's just any stuff I TRY and put on the pc now, I've tried new games, and old games, same shit is happening with all of them, they register so I see the little icon over the dvd drive the disks occupy, but they won't autorun instantly or manually. If I explore the dvd, the individual applications and setup files don't work either. All I'll get is either nothing, or the abovementioned message.
Evidently some kind of association has gone astray or something...but still, I couldn't have a clue what.

I ment maybe you are missing a system 32 file...if you got windows xp...put in the orginal xp cd and restart....and repair the windows xp from boot....

system restore would have sorted out that

Right Click on the program, and select compatibility.

Then change it from windows xp ir whatever its on. To a different version of windows.

Should work.
Has happened with many other programs ive used.
