Big Fan.
I am a big fan of H.P.Lovecraft. I first met him via paperback when I was forteen, a long time ago. I also love horror movies so you would think that the two were made for each other. However, most films inspired by the auther just s-u-uk. Dagon may be an exception. Ok, I post messages like I talk, on and on and on. Anyone out there a Lovecraft fan? Lets talk.

You didn't like Re-Animator!? (well, i could see how an HP fan may not like it......but it's Re-Animator!)

yea Re- Animator is awesome, But anyway welcome horror.com

yes, welcome.

I watch anything that bears the name of Lovecraft. It is just hard to reconsile the storys with the movies ya know? I mean, any ape with a camera can make any kind of horror film, slap up a sign saying, Arkham, or Innsmouth and call it a Lovecraft film. God nows I have seen it, but most films lack that felling of place. Now, reanimater did basicly the same thing. However it stuck rether closly to the plot in more places than most. Jeffrey Coombs as Herbert West was right on and did a grate job. Oh, by the way, this is a grate fourm and its nice to find people that have the same interests as myself.

I loved Dagon. Sure, it strayed from the story [ALOT], but it was still a pretty kickass film, IMO. Supposedly, it's based more on Shadow Over Insmouth, but Ive never read that one....

Hay return, If you liked Dagon, do yourself a favor, and read the shadow over innsmouth.

Necronomicon is little known, and highly recommended - some fantastic rubbery gore, particularly in the Yuzna-directed segments.

I have never heard of him until about a year ago, thats when I started getting into horror. I have a few of his paperbacks they are brilliant !

Welcome!
I am a big Lovecraft fan as well. Although recently my taste in reading material has strayed more toward fantasy, I always love to visit the Old Man From Providence. Speaking of film adaptations, have you seen From Beyond, by any chance? It's also directed by Stuart Gordon, and is a fairly decent Lovecraft film, in my opinion. Good luck finding it though, as I don't think it's been released on DVD, and it may be nigh-impossible to find on VHS. While not strictly a Lovecraft adaptation, In The Mouth of Madness is an excellent Lovecraftian film. Check it out, you won't regret it. |
