I may need a ripper as well basically here's what I want to do. I have a lot of box sets and I don't want to screw them up so I want to copy the discs so I can watch them and keep the originals in perfect condition. Do I need to rip, decode, and then burn them or is there a simple DVD copy program? Sorry for being vauge.

All of the DVD's I have tried to back up so far say they have been copy protected, so thats why I need a ripper.

there are DVD copy programs, but it's best (IMO) to just use DVD Decrypter and burn them through Roxio or something. That way you've also got it stored on your computer if you want (though it takes up around 7 gig per DVD, so you may just want to delete it)
