Mom Charged After 3 Year-Old Shoots 10 Year-Old Sister

Miami, Florida -- A Miami-area mother is being charged with child neglect after police said her 3-year-old boy shot his 10-year-old sister with a gun he found in the house.

Miami-Dade police said Sherice Latimore was outside their home showing a car to a prospective buyer when the boy came out of the house with a small-caliber handgun and shot his sister.

The girl is listed in serious condition at the hospital with a gunshot wound to the torso.

Police said Latimore was arrested on child neglect charges because she left the gun on a sofa in the house within easy reach of children. It's not yet clear whether Latimore has an attorney or when she will appear to answer the charges in court.
