Nothing to do with horror or does it??
A few days ago the US Supreme Court (Right wing:rolleyes: ) ruled in a 5 to 4 decision that if a company like lets say Wal-Mart wants to build a shopping center on my farm, that the government can force me off my land even if I refuse to sell.
Its for the public good. OK I can see highways, railways, even schools and such. Those are public places, owned by the taxpayers. But to take someones property and give it to a corporation or some snob with more money than me IMO is insanity. I am really starting to believe that we are living in a police state, soon everywhere I go will be checkpoints and I will have to show my papers. Regardless of your political position be it Democrat, Republican, Libertarian or Anarchist this can and does affect you. Soon enough maybe the federal govt can rule that my DVD collection should be taken from me and given to someone else. This is the road we are heading down, when do we say enough is enough. Also I am curious as to what our younger members think of things like this, and Canadians too. I am unfamiliar with property rights laws in Canada. (Help me out here UrgeOK) End of Rant |

In short, I think it's bullshit, but hey...short of large scale organised anti-govt movements, what are you gonna do? |
Well that's just total bullshit, I bet you get less money too.

Eminent domain is a bitch, ain't it?

Government shouldn't be able to take your property just to increase their tax base. That's bullshit. Government doesn't exist just to perpetuate itself, it's supposed to protect people's rights. This combined with the recent marijuana(Raich) case is extremely troubling. |

Its funny to me that alot of democrats run around screaming about how conservative the supreme court is. If this is their definition of conservative the American people are in deep trouble. Polls have shown that 97% of the populace thinks this decision is wrong. Folks over at Democratic Underground are going nuts. I think we have a government that is totally out of control, at least the judicial branch anyways. |

For years, I have been saying that we (Citizens) are way past due for another "Boston Tea Party." And I believe that eventually "We the People" will say enough is enough. |
I've said it before and i'll say it again, the government has forgotten that they arent a ruling body in this country, they are an extension of us, and we, the voting public, are THEIR bosses.
I still think that all jobs from mayor on up should be 100% pay-free, or they should make less than a door greeter at wal-mart. Anyone found profiting from big businesses should be stripped of their rank. And if you own stock in a particular industry, you are banned from any governmental decision making in that field (can anyone say oil?) Regardless of political party, i cant see how anyone can look at our current president and think of him as anything other than a smug, self-righteous ass who cares more about his personal beliefs than the good of the country. |
I was thinking of running for the county board where I live.
But there are some pretty big skeletons in my closet, as well as some decaying bodies. Of course I would be opening up my family to alot of bullshit. I think enough is enough. Next Wednesday I am going to see my congresscritter at an open forum, dont be surprised of you see my stupid ass on the news. I plan on getting a little unruly if necessary. |
