Asian to US Movies

What's with the Asian movies being remade in the US. Why not just import the originals, with are better. Is it the they fear no one will sit through subtitles, of that they are to indepth for American viewers?

My best guess would be that they realize the Japanese movies suck, so they try to remake them, American style- which turn out even worse.

I really dont see anything wrong with U.S. attempting to re-make some japanese horror films. I enjoyed The Ring, The Grudge and may enjoy Dark Water. I dont see them bring the original over and playing it in the movie theatres simply because it wont bring the big bucks as compared to having it "Americanized" with big name actors/actresses. Ju-On or Ringu probably would have brought a 1/10 of what the re-makes brought in. I would much rather see some japanese re-makes than some of the American crap movies thats been popping out in the threatres.
