looking for a movie
 

not sure if you would classify it as horror, but it was this movie about a really religious dad and his two sons who lived on a farm, and one night he has a dream and wakes his sons up and tells them that God told him in his dream that they were supposed to get rid of "demons" on earth for him and that he would give them three "weapons" to use against the demons; an axe, a pair of gloves and I can't remember the third item; but pretty much the eldest son starts to think his dad's crazy while the younger one believes everything his dad says, and they catch this normal guy who's apparently a "demon" and the eldest has to decide what to do

now that I remember more, it starts off as a guy writing an article, or a story, or a journal or something, and he's the one telling the story

if anyone knows what I'm talking about and can remember the name, I'd really appreciate it, I've seen the movie like 2 or 3 times, I can't even remember where, I just remember seeing it and loving it every time, but never had an opportunity to jot down the name, thx again
