Consistancy...

I just feel like posting an actual thread about movies...hope to get a discussion goin' on.

BEFORE I do, I just wanna say that right now, I think this place is really cool...and I don't mean without certain posters, just without all the drama...I mean, I admit fault on my part in some recent events, and in turn wanna throw out a forum-wide apology.
Y'know what? It's really nice when there's no bullshit goin' on up in here. I hope it lasts...

OK, onto the thread topic:

Movie series with more than one installment.
Horror, comedy, action, whatever you like...
What series of movies have you guys seen that you have found the sequels to be of consistant quality.
eg: Which film series have you enjoyed, beginning to end, and why?

I have a few, but I will start off with:
X-men 1 & 2.
Despite the comic-geek issues with every comic based film in existence changing details/histories, I think that the x-men movies have thus far done a VERY good job.
The quality was still there during the second, the characters were done brilliantly IMO (well, especially wolverine and nightcrawler), the effects only got better, and the second one felt a LOT more like the comic...I am personally very much looking foward to the third film, and hope they don't fuck it up.

The Godfather 1 & 2 ....3 wasn't quite as good

Back To The Future trilogy---good clean fun

Lord of the Rings trilogy---I still can't understand how some people hate this.

Austin Powers trilogy---c'mon...it was funny.

Well, I'll keep it in the realm of geek and say the Spider-Man movies have been consistently good. Also, without straying too far from its comic book predecessor.

Shreck

Agreed on most of those...and yeah, the back to the future trilogy was excellent...

I guess I could safely say the BURTON batman movies?
!!!Indiana Jones trilogy!!!

OK, and I know it's yet another incomplete series, but

The Cameron era terminator films (1 & 2)...both were excellent, and two of my favourite films. #2 had everything a sequel should.

Also, Gremlins.
I LOVED the first one...The second one WAS a little more kiddy and had a bit more comedy vibe goin' on, but it was enjoyable all the same.

austin powers is the rare exception that actually progressively got better with each film ..

Sorry, can't agree with you on this one. Temple of Doom just wasn't that good. Parts 1 and 3 were really great, but 2 just drags the whole series down

The Man With No Name trilogy

#3 was a damn good film too .. i thought it was going to be crap and was pleasantly suprised ..

T3 was better than expected, and interesting, but it DID fall short on SOME undefinable aspect. Could just be my personal preference.
As for austin powers, I liked all 3, but...I think the third one wore a tad thin.

Sam, admittedly, IJ2 is now my least favourite, but still enjoyed it - probably a little more as a child than now (actually, I think it was the first one I ever saw, and my "favourite" for a while), but all the same, the 3rd film bought it up to standard, and alltogether, it'd make for a cool box-set, I mean, as a trilogy, I'm down with it.
