Real Life Horror In Modern Movies

I've recently watched a few DVD'S that have been portrayals of real killers in particular those from the late 60's and 70's in America. The three which stand out are BUNDY, THE HILLSIDE STRANGLER and THE MANSON FAMILY.
I found these movies to be real uncomfortable viewing experiences as the rape and murder scenes are very explicit and graphic.Add to that these events really happened and these are what you call films that really horrify you.
THE MANSON FAMILY has to be one of the most violent films I have ever seen in the UK that has been passed by the censor without any fuss.
I was also surprised at how strong the other 2 movies I have mentioned are considering all the videos that were banned in this country not so long ago.It also struck me how soft and unscary most fictional "horror" movies really are compared to these based on real events movies.
However I am a sucker for punishment and I am now waiting for delivery of ED GEIN,DAHMER and GACY.
:)

But that never really happened. It was only loosely based off of ED GEIN. The only thing thats really true to what he did was, keeping bones and other body parts too make stuff, and wearing of the skin. It didn't even happen in texas. So i don't think that TCM's should be called non-fiction, or considered in the list of non-fiction movies.

Try 'Speck' based on Richard Speck, I had not heard of him before but...

Also 'Nightstalker' based on Robert Ramirez

I've just seen Ed Gein and I found it very disappointing. The movie lacked any power and failed to bring over the true horror of what the man got up to.
A better film about Gein is an eighties movie called DERANGED.
That is superb and well worth checking out.

It is a horribly innaccurate bastardization of real events. Outside of the names and the fact that henry lee lucas was a serial killer, it had pretty much nothing to do with reality.

In short, i hated it.
