My Horror Shopping Spree

Went to a local used books/games/DVD's shop and let myself get carried away, got 114 dollars worth of stuff, but considering the amount of stuff I got, you'll realize how *good* a price that really was. So, without further ado, my horror shopping spree:

Below are all Stephen King books unless otherwise listed.

Night Shift
Thinner
The Dark Half
Bag of Bones
Hearts in Atlantis
It
From a Buick 8
Dolores Claiborne
Everything's Eventual
Storm of the Century
The Regulators
Desperation
Dreamcatcher
The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon
Rose Madder
Different Seasons
Danse Macabre
Ghost Story (Peter Straub)

Movies:

The Grudge (DVD)
It (DVD)
Salem's Lot (DVD)
A Nightmare On Elm Street 1-5 (Video)
In Dreams (Video)
House of the Dead (Video)

Now, out of all of those, so far the only thing that seems to have sucked has been House of the Dead. Other than that they all rock my world. Not that I've had the opportunity to be rocked by many of them, but those that I have, rocked my world.

Overall not bad for a little over a hundred bucks.

Any other recommended Straub books, btw? I read and loved both The Talisman and Black House that he co-wrote with King, are there any other of his own works that are worth reading?

Got a couple of books to return because I accidentally got duplicates, so let me know any recommendations. :)

My only question is do you like Stephen King?

Also, House of dead is the greatest movie ever made! I watch it 3 times a day

I have the film script printed out, so I can read it on the train to work, every day.

Hmmm.... I'm not sure how good of a deal I would consider a bunch of used books and a few movies for 100 bucks but then again... I'm not much of a fiction reader. If you are happy with your purchase, then thats all that matters. You are right about House of the Dead sucking though. That's one of the worst mid-budget horror films I've ever seen in my life.

I was not a big fan of The Grudge either. (It wasnt anywhere near as bad as HOTD though. The Grudge is pretty good quality, but it just didn't do it for me. The Japanese version, Ju-On, is better.

Ghost Story is Straubs best ... Shadowlands is also a good book..
although it is pretty much a rip off of Robertson Davies' The Manticore.

I still think you'd dig it.

i wasnt a big fan of Stawbs books after that.
You bought Ghost Story - you should read it next.
