Dawn Of The Dead (original)

I just bought this movie, and realized that it is not only an extremly well done horror film, but how controversial it is. It reflects the breakdown of society. How poeple stop caring, authority figures no longer mean anything, and people kill other poeple without a care. Poeple become territorial like animals, and kill others to keep their territory If you've never thought about this while watching this movie, watch it again, and pay attention.

You forgot to mention the zombies wandering around the mall and how those scenes were shot purposely to show that normal folks and mindless zombies arent that different.

It's also the first of the series to refer to them as "zombies" (Peter's grandfather was a voodoo preist)

I have it on DVD, love it.

I'm going to get shit on for this, but the slow moving zombies with terrible make-up jobs didn't contribute to the horror of this flick at all (atleast for me) Even in giant packs they couldn't manage to be scary, the new dawn of the dead did a much better job in the horror areas but didn't quite capture the breakdown of society in the original.

Hari Krishna's are pretty creepy in general. Zombified or not.

i think the slow - but unrelentless zombies has the same impact as Jason or any of the other deliberate but slow plodding bad-guys.
It's coming - and nothing can stop it .. you have to think about it - anticipate your death.
Also You feel you can relax bacause they are slow but they are always coming.

I always liked the makeup jobs though ....

The greyish blue painted faces? They only spent time on making two or three zombies look good.

Nothing like jason, those zombie fuckers are slow, weak and easy to kill. The scary thing is that the world is fucked and there is no hope.

There weren't that many in the mall, and they just shoved them over like they were nothing all the time.
