Question about unknown movie

Hi there,

I'm new here & am just wondering if anyone can help me out. I recall seeing a movie in the early 80's but I have no idea what it was called. From what I recall it was your standard 'family moves into a haunted house and people start dying' kind of jaunt. The only details I can recall is that the people in the house kept seeing a ghost who appeared as a German military officer (and wearing dark glasses) and that at the end of the film, the father jumped out of an upper window of the house and landed on the windscreen of the car below, in which his son was sat.

Does anyone know what this film is? Sorry I have no more details but if anyone has seen this film then I'm sure you'll recognize it.

Many thanks in advance :)

Sounds like Burnt Offerings with Oliver Reed, Karen Black and Bette Davis.

Just looked it up and yep, I think that's the film! I was wrong about the ghost/apparition/whatever, he was a chauffeur & not a German offcier but it's a loooong time since I saw it so my memory is sketchy at best. Thanks for your help and quick reply :)

That's what I figured. I haven't been here that long myself and I've already caught on to these people!:D

On a side note, I'm going to be gone for a while. My Mom is getting out of the hospital tomorrow (she lives in Florida) and I'm going down there to take care of her for a week.

Bye!
