Why no movie versions of James Herbert books?

With all th lack of originality around in the horror film world at the moment I cannot understand why one of the best horror writers of all time does not have his work made into movies. I'm talking about James Herbert of cause who has wrote many classics such as The Dark, Moon, The Magic Cottage, The Ghosts Of Sleath, Portent, Sepulchre, I could go on and on. With the right budget and director we could be seeing some great horror films on screen and I'm sure they would be box office hits. It would be far better than the endless remakes, sequels and video game adaptations that we are being served up.
So fellow horror fans , let us know which James Herbert novels are your favourites and which ones you think would make good movies.

Hey wow--someone who reads. The mind boggles. :)

I only read "The Fog," and I would like to see that made into a film, but I think they'd have to call it something else, unfortunately...

Yaaaaaaahhhh! That was 20 years ago!

There was of course "The Survivor" starring Robert ("Harlequin") Powell as the title character. I rather liked that film! Years later I saw "Carnival of Souls" and thought it may have inspired "The Survivor," but then again, "Carnival of Souls" was a ripoff of a couple of Twilight Zone episodes, so.........never mind.
