Paul Wegner is genius, this is the 1920 version.

I think the ending where the girl is looking up at the golem while holding the apple is one of the most beautiful shots in cinematography history.

I would have to say that picture of Teuton a.k.a. Golem standing next to the little girl reminds me of Frankenstien in 1931 when the Frankenstien monster was near a little girl in that movie.

I always wanted to see this movie.

Hi Newb I agree you really should try and see Der Golem or one of the 3 Paul Wegener Golem movies. Maybe you should see if any of the 3 movies are on DVD.

its too bad this is the only one on dvd. sigh.

There's a nice two disc DVD set from Elite called Masterworks Of German Horror Cinema which contains Der Golem (second version) along with F.W. Murnau's Nosferatu and The Cabinet Of Dr Caligarui.
