Evil Dead Remake Story

Fucking kidding me. Say this is a joke, please Bwind.

The memories off getting wasted and watching that film in our dorm roome.

Goddamn coporate puss bags. I'm mean I am truly pissed off, because, if I not mistaken the essence of those films is having the quality of Bmovie , and STILL BEING ENTERTAINING.

At least tell me Bruce Cambell is going to be in it?

Fucking editors. Bloody stupid fucking editors. Am I right Vod or what?

Vodstok 11-19-2004 04:10 AM

I just cant believe that everything has gotten so inbred in the entertainment business that they arent even interested in considering nerw ideas. They arent even rehashing old ideas, they are just tearing them apart, repackaging them, and shipping them back out.

The nice thing is, if and when i do become successfull as a writer, i will be doing everything in my power to constantly piss all of these people off.

"You cant do that!"
"I just did, now fuck off."

Bullshit

it is definately all about the almighty dollar.
Other than the real hard core fans, when you say Evil Dead, you have a ready made audience.

People pretty much know what to expect - it's low risk.

Or ... you have someone who really likes the film and wants to keep it fresh.

I have mixed feelings about this .. I like to see ANY horror film get made. No one is forcing me to see it ... there are ways i can see it for free, and turn it off if it blows so i really dont have to risk my time or my money.

We all know why the 1st one was so damn good ... and we all know how delicate the formula was ... a low budget labour of love made by good friends who were creative, funny, and dedicated.

You dont see that in a bigger budget film .. the motivations are different.

But the only thing is :

I thought I would hate the Dawn of the Dead remake - and I loved it.

If the person who makes Evil Dead understands Raimi's vision and finds the fine balance of remaking verbatim and adding fresh material ... they might pull it off.

Personally the only remake in history that i thought was insane to remake was Alfie. (because it was somewhat of a period piece .. it doesnt work now)

Horror films are rarely topical so they dont have that constraint.

I say screw it ... whats the worse thing that could happen ? It sucks ?

So what ... House of the Dead was released .. if that didnt completely murder the horror film industry - nothing will

The new Dawn worked because the writer and director were obviously very passionate about the subject matter, and had some talent. keep your finger crossed here, then.

one of my points exactly ...

this is the hit and miss scenario ..

why the film is being remade .. what is the commitment of the director... and how smart the casting is.
