I heard good things about yamaha ( i have a 12 yamaha but quite a different animal) we have a pretty standerd kit with a 4 piece set, but LOTS of cymbals and a double bass pedal that eats away our bass drum heads but heh....

Im not sure the brand, ill ask the ol drummer when he gets home from work...

Ha....

The big one on its side is the Bass Drum and its played with a bass pedal...

The other ones are your Toms, we currently use 4 but have used 3 for a long time...

Then you GOT to have the snare drum that sits in your lap pretty much, behind the toms...

And you GOT to have a hihat, (the two smaller cymbals that clamp together with a pedal)...

All the other cymbals are really optional, but i would atleast get 1 other crash (the big cymbals)
