14-Year Olds Accused Of Plotting Mother's Murder

Baker County, Florida -- Police in Glen St. Mary have sworn police statements from the mothers of two 14-year olds. The children are boyfriend and girlfriend. One mother claims she found a tape recording detailing a murder plot. "They were discussing a plan to injure or kill one of the juveniles' mothers. The conversation was captured over an answering machine," says Chief Gerald Gonzales of the Baker County Sheriff's Office.

The 14-year olds also allegedly planned to rob the boy's mother, steal her truck then run away together. It's a disturbing scheme that's catching the small community off-guard says Baker County resident Geneva Rhoden. "I couldn't imagine one of my children wanting to kill me. The parents must be devastated."

"What's even more disturbing," says Chief Gonzales, "Is for the parent to believe the kid is truly capable."

One of the mothers says in her statement, "I do fear they just might shoot me in my sleep."

Friday, the Baker County Sheriff's Office told First Coast News the case is being reviewed by the State Attorney's Office of Gainesville. They will determine if formal charges will be filed.

First Coast News tried reaching the parents of both teens for comment, but neither was available.
