I gotta friend who confuses cause with coincidence a bit too often. He's convinced that this crappy movie was somehow based on the Japanese cartoon of the same name. Well, similar name at least. Anyhows... can anyone help me on this so's I can shut his trap up?

van hellsing was based on dracula im pretty sure, he was like a guy who got rid of demons

Umm...I know that the character Van Helsing is based on "Dracula" but I'm trying to figure out if anyone knows if there's a DIRECT connection between the Japanese cartoon and that $200 million crap-fest that was released this summer?

im positive its not based on a japanamie lol those things are so crazy, its based souly on the dracula charicter, and only him

Anyways, this guy is always making these sorts of connections. He has too much time on his hands and obviously I do too.

Actually, it was based on the old Universal monster movies.
