Still looking...

McDonnyDude666 08-29-2004 02:08 PM

Im not sure. I normaly dont get scared by horror movies and no that isnt me trying to be macho.

bwind22 08-29-2004 03:08 PM

I don't get scared by movies any more, but when I was like 12 or 13, Texas Chainsaw Massacre creeped me the fuck out.

(Side note: I think the scariness of The Exorcist is hugely over rated.)

MoAshKickin 08-29-2004 04:24 PM

Exorcist scared the shit out of me when I was younger, but as I got older I found out that Rhegan didn't have a demon in her,she was just on her Period. I use to go with this girl who had the same symptoms.

Egekrusher 08-29-2004 05:22 PM

The Ring.

I know, pathetic, but it's the only movie that's ever really scared me.

I agree on both counts

bone collector 08-30-2004 03:57 AM

i think that if a horror movie scares you, or freak the shit out of you, you know that it is true horror movie, because dont you guys think that is why horror movies are made, to scare us

Oats 08-30-2004 02:07 PM

i would have to say Urban Legend and I Know what you Did last summer scared the hell out of me, forget Night of the Living Dead or Texas, Urban and IKWYDLS are the best horror movies ever made.

huh?

feral cat 08-30-2004 02:46 PM

Proteus 08-30-2004 02:57 PM

When I was a kid The original Blob freaked me out.....just because of the shapeless terror that it is! It could be anywhere and pretty much do anything without people knowing it.

Proteus

Steelsymth 08-30-2004 08:31 PM

Exorcist by FARRRR!!!! still to this day creeps me out like NOOO other movie....and think if I watched it 100 timmes it still would.

gnarly 08-30-2004 10:50 PM

evil dead 2.
the part where ash is evil dead and its all silent and he comes out of the darkness an his like OOARR and then that happens
five more times

luke_dm5 08-31-2004 02:16 AM

Man, has anybody seen "The Grudge: Juon". I hired it on DVD the other day and I was pretty spooked. Hirely recommend it. There is just something about Japanes horror that is a bit spooky.

I also think The Exorcist is overrated. Granted in it's day it would have scared the sh** out of people, but I don't think it compares to todays movies

Rein In Blood 08-31-2004 01:50 PM

As a kid: Halloween really scared me.

Now: Se7en

Not too many movies scare me now, but Se7en really freaked me out when I saw it alone.

MichaelMyers 08-31-2004 02:12 PM

I forgot Evil Dead: Dead by Dawn. That was pretty freaky too. So was "Ringu".

nine9 08-31-2004 02:30 PM

Agreed. Just watched this last week and was pretty spooked. The remake is coming out very soon with Buffy.
Maybe they will get it right.

Nine9, I highly recommend this [ the original ] movie to you. I know you liked "The Eye" so you will like this one.

Thanks for the tip newb! Yes I loved the Eye! I just have a hard time finding these movies. Blockbuster here is the shits at carrying alot of festival flicks. All summer I meant to go to this store here that rents all of these movies but it is a two bus trip for me so I haven't got there yet. Is that a new movie? I guess not if they are remaking it. Japanese as well? I'll get off my little ass here and visit Movie Village soon! Any info on it well help me to find it easier. :)

I just looked again at what was written here...prob Italian.....

Not trying to kiss some a**, but the scenes were one of them is listening to the tapes in the basement of that old hospital and you can hear the different personalities manifesting themselves...creeeeeeeeeeeeepy.

Kind of reminded me of Raising Cain.

There are 3 different Ju-on movies out there. This is the cover to the one I have.

bone collector 09-01-2004 05:02 PM

i just rented last house on the left, last night, and it freaked the hell out of me, like the box said its only a movie

MrShape 09-03-2004 04:17 AM

I still say the scariest movie I ever saw was that documentary about the Trekkies. Absolutely horrifying. Some of these people have not seen the sun since that show premired in the 60s.

I just saw the poster for the remake, it's the same image as the Japanese poster for "Ringu"! Anyway, from what I hear, "The Grudge" will be part remake but essentially will be "Ju-on 5".

That may be true, but I also just saw the trailer, and there are at least two parts that were identical to the original.

dantehorrorfan 09-03-2004 11:04 AM

the shining:rolleyes:

bone collector 09-03-2004 10:27 PM

i fell asleep watching the shining:(

dantehorrorfan 09-03-2004 10:33 PM

i know its boring as a muthafucka now........................its a great movie just not scary anymore

Count Dracula 09-04-2004 07:46 AM

The only horror-movie that really scared me was Lucio Fulcis City of the Living Dead. It've got a really creepy gothic atmosphere, and the zombies are truly awesome! Great movie, almost Fulcis best, only Fulci movie that is better is The Beyond

Arioch 09-04-2004 02:42 PM

As a child, NOES's and IT scared me a good deal...

I was actually terrified of "The Rock Biter" in The Neverending Story, even tho he was a good guy.....and that mean werewolf that was SUPPOSED to be scary didn't scare me at all:confused: ....i was a confused child.....now im a confused adult:rolleyes:

theslowwizard 09-08-2004 04:12 AM

Let's see.

The Excorcist scared the piss out of me when I was ten.

Event Horizon got me good when I saw it in theaters but isn't remotely scary on video.

The Ring scared my girlfriend and I out of our wits when we saw it in theaters. I had never seen the Japanese version and I had no clue what I was getting into.

Kairo (directed by Kiyoshi Kurosawa, 2001) scared the fuck out of me. I just bought the VCD blindly off of ebay and once again didn't know what I was getting into.

Preacher 09-08-2004 05:06 AM

As a kid I was really scared of freddy kreuger even though i'd only seen small parts of the NOES films.

So when i was 15 I decided enough is enough and borrowed the whole series from a mate. Watched it non stop one saturday. Cuddn't sleep for weeks but at least i'm cured now......I hope.

Any clown movies really scare the shit outta me cos I hate the evil bastards. But I like a good scare.

Ring was damn spooky (the japanese version not the shit american remake). I think hollywood horrors are shit cos they insist on explaining everythin. Part of horror revolves around the unexplained it think.

The only bit in the shining i found scary was the quick flashes of the dead twins and the blood gushung down the corridor......those and the kid on his bike going all through the hotel.

Monkey Do 09-10-2004 01:53 PM

Lets see...

Salems Lot freaked the shit out of me as a young kid, actually ran upstairs and hid when the vamp kiddie flew up and started scratching on the window.

Only film that ever scared me before that was "Legend of Bogy Creek"

A few years later a mate and I were pretty freaked during (don't laugh) Amityville 1995 "It's about time" or whatever the fuck it was called but that was mainly due to non-film related things that happened while we were watching it like electrical equipment going on the blink and such.

The original Amityville Horror still freaks me out, I doubt I could sit through that on my own still, something about the idea behind it and that soundtrack *shudder*

The Ring (Jap) "Ringu" left a lasting impression, found myself thinking of it long after watching it, particularly last thing at night as I turned the telly off...which was scarier than the actual film.
