Action-Horror

Who here enjoys this less-than-a-subgenre of horror?

Personally, I love it. Action movies, with a slight, sometimes very slight, additition of horror. My personal favorite example is Van Helsing. Or possibly Underworld.

GorePhobia 08-05-2004 06:40 PM

van helsing was okay and so was underworld but deff not classified as slight horror to be quite honest

Vampenguin 08-05-2004 06:44 PM

Slight, as in they have some aspects of horror......as in Vampires. Or warewolves. It stops there though

GorePhobia 08-05-2004 06:45 PM

speakin of anrold. do you think the marrige between he and maria shriver is an a attepmt for the kennedys to have a indestructable heir?
i'm so sorry that was a cheap shot. almost as cheap as the shot from the grassy knoll

I dont often say this to you wufong, but that was funny :)

I like "action/horror" like Aliens, which is still that subgenre's pinnacle. I think what most people qualify as action/horror is more supernatural/action like blade and hellboy.

Both of which i enjoyed immensly.

Of course, with stephen dorf in blade, i thought i was watching leprechaun at first, but then i realised he was a vampire.

A short one.

After being pestered by my kids all summer, I finally took them to see VanHelsing a few weeks ago, at the second run movie house, (nothing like the big screen). They loved it...It was my second time and so I got to pay more attention to certain parts. I still think it's OK...just not much of a, "horror" movie for me though.
