Just to put it out there, has anyone seen The Fog?

What a horrible film! Statred out good, then fell apart into a dribbling, slow rash of a film. British crap at it's best.

zwoti 08-05-2004 02:05 PM

TrueFan 08-05-2004 02:08 PM

Sigh....

I doubt that could be the reason, considering i am British

ShankS 08-05-2004 02:14 PM

still awaiting your explaination as to how the fog is "british crap at it's best"

TrueFan 08-05-2004 02:19 PM

Weak story line, poor acting....effects....don't get me started. Like I said, it started out great...then they started talking....story was all over the place. The "ghosts" at the end....are you kidding me!?

it was a generalisation, as in 'one' or 'many' films. In your case I suspect many.

Now tell us, how can the film be 'British' crap.

please answer the question, how is it british old wise one.......

ShankS 08-05-2004 02:25 PM

.... we are waiting......

TrueFan 08-05-2004 02:25 PM

A British films in general can be crap. Are all of them? No, but the many of them are. From the many that I have seen, I do not see much in the way of great story telling. (Please, for the love of all that is good, don't pull out Monty Phython) The styling of the films are bland, the most they can usally pull off is decent King Arthur film from time to time.

zwoti 08-05-2004 02:27 PM

once again i ask the question....why do you think the the fog is british?

any chance you'll answer this question.

ShankS 08-05-2004 02:27 PM

... but we would like an answer.

please do not make us wait anylonger, the anticipation for your answer is just getting too much.

TrueFan 08-05-2004 02:35 PM

Stingy Jack 08-05-2004 02:42 PM

God! This thread is the funniest thing I have ever read. Look at the way zwoti and ShankS are just hovering over TrueFan like a couple of vultures waiting for a kill. It's great. They're like two physical halves of one personality, twiddling their fingers and finishing each other's sentences, all the meanwhile drooling with large grins on their faces. What a pair!

TrueFan 08-05-2004 02:44 PM

Sweet heaven....

Dean Cundey ( Cinematographer) British...hence the poor film style.

John Carpenter.....he has YET to make a real horror film

Charles B. Bloch (Producer / Executive Producer) Britiash...he has the cash and had allot of say on the film...hence...the sucking part.

zwoti 08-05-2004 02:45 PM

so are you saying that john carpenter is british?

HappyCamper 08-05-2004 02:46 PM

So I guess, 'Christine' and 'Vampires' aren't horror films?! and Damn all this time I thought they were!

Oh and just because a film has a British producer ($$$) doesn't mean the film is a British film!!

If I remember correctly this film stared Jamie Lee Curtis, who did this film shortly after Halloween, and it took place in the States! So HTF is it British Crap?

Wait wait wait. John Carpenter has made some classic horror films ... what are you talking about?? Halloween, The Thing, Christine (you have to admit, it's a classic.) Please list some films you consider to be "good horror" so that I know where your tastes lie.

HappyCamper 08-05-2004 02:49 PM

I say we vote to Ban TrueFan, who's with me?

DEAN CUNDEY ASC

Born: 1945, Alhambra, Los Angeles, USA, as Dean A. Cundey.

Career: Got his start handling makeup for 2 Roger Corman productions: 'Naked Angels' [1969, d: Bruce Clark, ph: Robert Eberlein] and 'Gas-s-s-s!/Gas!' [1970, d: Roger Corman, ph: Ron Dexter; + c.op 3rd cam]. After that he scrambled for several years doing pickup shots/inserts and assisting film editors. Became gaffer. In order to increase his marketability as a cinematographer, Cundey outfitted a location truck with camera and grip equipment - then included himself - in what was a complete filmmaking package. no, your "bad" was to stumble across people who ACTUALLY know about horror films.

p.s.

his horror films suck...halloween...slasher film

but i thought you said slasher films weren't horror...therefore you shouldn't be including this in his list of "horror" films.

Okay, well I'm not a fan of slasher films ... particularly because this particular type of horror has followed the path of comedy and gore over scares. But, Halloween was not like this. It generally tries to be frightening, and it was to its generation. I don't see how Carrie was a weak film, though. Taking into consideration the technology available, it was well-made and Sissy Spacek's performance is one of the most memorable in the genre. I know you don't have a problem with the story, because you lauded King's work (story-wise) in another thread.

Even so, what do you consider to be good horror? Please list some films.

TrueFan 08-05-2004 02:57 PM

HappyCamper 08-05-2004 02:59 PM

Slasher films are a sub-genre of Horror Films, you can't say that slasher aren't horror cause they are!

You obviously must not really like horror films, cause basically all you do is BASH all of them!

When did he say John Carpenter directed Carrie? I must have missed that. I thought he was just listing some films that he thought were bad, when I asked him to list some he thought were good. Unless, when he said Carrie he meant Christine. But even so, how is Christine a weak film? What the fuck?
