Favorite 80s song?
Nobody really goes to the music section so. Alright yes think back to the time of the Jheri curl and Makeup for men. What is your favorite 80s song? Mine would have to be Blister in the Sun by The Violent Femmes. Or Beat My Guest by Adam and the Ants

My songs won't fall into the typical '80s' category, but I was into Bad Religion and NOFX towards the late 80s and I've never looked back.
Best 80s Song = 'Pity' by Bad Religion Okay, now that I've made my real taste known, I'll answer with more typical 80s tunes.... Michael Jackson - Thriller R.E.M. - Losing My Religion Guns N Roses - Paradise City, Sweet Child O' Mine and anything else off of Appetite Metallica - One, Master of Puppets, Unforgiven (Might have been early 90s) One song I always thought sucked, but had an entertaining video was Lionel Richie - Dancing on the Ceiling |
Yeah, I always wanted to see him fall and break his neck...

Poison: Give me somthing to believe in

The 80's had some of the worst music of any decade, IMO. And while I'll agree with MD2 that Hotel California was indeed a great tune, it doesn't qualify, seeing that it came out in 1976.

I couldn't POSSIBLY narrow it down to "songs"...Too much good music in the '80s...
Quiet Riot Def Leppard Cyndi Lauper Prince White Snake Twisted Sister Night Ranger Motley Crew Iron Maiden Bon Jovi The Police Men Without Hats Men At Work Journey Styx Air Supply Golden Earring Culture Club (Yeah, I liked it) Hell...Even Michael was good then... I couldn't handle Van Halen, though... |
I love 80's music!!
GnR Metallica Van Halen Beastie Boys(listening to them right now!) Warrent Areosmith Pink Floyd AC DC Whitesnake Def Leppard Bon Jovi Tears for Fears Duran Duran I can go on and on.... One of my top fav songs though is Tainted Love. I love Marilyn Manson's version too!! |
Metallica: anything before the Black album
Slayer: Reign In Blood Regular 80's music sucked the carp out of meh arse. |
What????? Come on! The 80's SUCKED when it came to music! I think you guys are all just basing your opinions on personal associations you have with those songs. If you looked at them objectively, you would realize that it was all pretty crappy music.
HOWEVA: I liked Blister in the Sun, too. That's one of those "gets stuck in my head" songs. And: Punk Rock Girl by the Dead Milkmen. I liked a lot of They Might Be Giants tunes, too. Particularly Istanbul, Particle Man, and Anna Ng. Thriller is good, too. Although I hate M.J. |

Relax-Frankie Goes to Hollywood
One night in Bangkok-Falco Rock me Amadeus-??? anything by the Police any and all metal in any form DRI, Suicidal Tendancies, and the list could go on for days I confess I love Cyndi Lauper, mostly cos I thought she was HOOOOTTTTTT How foolish of me-Rock the Casba- the Clash |
I went to a website of 80s songs to see if my first comment that "80s music sucked" was valid. It pretty much is. Sure there was some good stuff, of course Bowie, and some ZZ Top, Pat Benatar,U2,Van Halen, even a few B 52s and a couple Men AT Work, but for the most part.....much suckage. I was never into "The Hair Bands" i.e. Warrant,Poison,Cinderalla,Scorpions,Motley Crue,Skid Row and many more. And there was a lot of "Disco" type music left over from the late 70s. [hated disco with a passion ].

BTW zwoti, the Talking Heads are great, but I still think of them as more of a 70s band.Their first album came out in 76 or 77. "Stop Making Sense" is one of my favorite concert DVDS.
