The Eternalment! (Best Vampire Film Tourney)

Okay, I know I said it might take a week for me to get my next tourney up and running, but I got antsy, so here it is...

I have included what I consider to be 32 of the most popular vampire films. (Please note they are not all solely based on vampires, but they do all have a vampire in them.) Be warned that a few of these are more comedy than horror.

Here's the list of films in no particular order....
Van Helsing, Waxwork, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Queen of the Damned, John carpenter's Vampires, Fright Night, Fright Night 2, Vampire In Brooklyn, Underworld, Nosferatu, The Tommyknockers, Dracula 2000, Dracula: Dead and Loving It, Once Bitten, Andy Warhol's Dracula, Blacula, From Dusk Til Dawn, Blade, Blade 2, Salem's Lot, The Forsaken, Bordello of Blood, Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein, Night Breed, Monster Squad, Subspecies, Lost Boys, Dracula 2, Interview with the Vampire, Vampire Journals, Dracula (Bela Lugosi version).

If you notice your favorite vampire film is not on the list, then let me know as soon as possible and I'll try to work it in. (After we get through the first round, there's nothing I can do.)

*I left From Dusk til Dawn 2 & 3 out because I think we can all agree that the first one was the best out of that series.

First round will be up in just a minute....

Look closer. Nosferatu is in there.

I don't know that I've seen any Hammer Films, if you can think of some that you think anyone on here other than you has seen, please let me know so I can add them in before we get too far into the first round.

KRUGERKID13 06-30-2004 12:18 AM

near dark, horror of dracula, satanic rights of dracula, 'Salem's Lot '04, zwoti jump in any time,

bwind22 06-30-2004 01:06 AM

Anything made for TV is not included so there goes Salem's Lot 04 (I highly doubt anyone thought it was better than the original anyway.) Near Dark will be added for sure. I'll look into the others.

KRUGERKID13 06-30-2004 01:09 AM

you do realise 'salem's lot the original was made for tv so your gonna have to take that off your list and if ya dont believe me check www.imdb.com

also i thought it was alot better

Hey bwind22, check out http://www.wsu.edu/~delahoyd/vampirefilms.html

There's a big list of vampire films dated from very early 1900's right upto 2000. It may help to jog yours and others memorys.

I can honestly say that I haven't heard of about 90% of those. I saw them all on the website I was on while compiling the list, but Having never heard of/ saw any of them, I didn't know which ones were good and which ones weren't. There are literally hundreds of vampire flicks out there, but I like to keep the number to 32 for the sake of tournament brackets. I did actually have The Hunger in the list of candidates, but ended up cutting it out because I didn't think too many people would have seen it. It will be re-added in replace of Salem's Lot. (Good catch on that one being a made for TV movie, KruegerKid. That fact slipped my mind entirely!)

Zwoti, if you could narrow your list down to what you think are the one or two most popular, I'll put them in. I would do it, but like I said, I haven't seen any of those. (Except The Hunger and that's already been added.)

bwind22 06-30-2004 01:06 PM

Fright Night wins by a dominating 10-2!

ROUND 1-MATCH 2

Horror of Dracula

vs.

Underworld

bwind22 06-30-2004 01:18 PM

Okay thanks for the suggestions everyone. Here is a revised list of the films I now have in the tourney. (This is still subject to change because I told Zwoti he could add a couple if he wanted to.)

Fright Night, Vampire In Brooklyn, Horror of Dracula (by special request), Underworld, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Queen of the Damned, Van Helsing, John Carpenter's Vampires, Near Dark (added due to my own neglect to put it in the first time around), Dracula 2000, Dracula: Dead and Loving It, Nosferatu, Once Bitten, Blacula, Andy Warhol's Dracula, From Dusk Til Dawn, The Forsaken, Bordello of Blood, "Zwoti's Choice", Blade, Blade 2, The Hunger (by special request), Monster Squad, Lost Boys, Night Breed, Subspecies, Fright Night 2, Dracula (Bela Lugosi version), Vampire Journals, Dracula 2, Interview with the Vampire

Zwoti, I already added the one Hammer Film that has had multiple requests (Horror of Dracula), please pick one more from your list and let me know.

Okay, if everyone's happy with the list and your favorite vampire film is in there somewhere... On with The Eternalment!

Egekrusher 06-30-2004 01:29 PM

Underworld.

Sorry, but the black and white/cheasy technicolor films just don't appeal to me. I'm a technophile.

i shall choose fearless vampire killers, if only for the fact that it gave us the jewish vampire joke.

zwoti 06-30-2004 01:51 PM

christopher lee as dracula, peter cushing as van helsing...gotta be dracula (horror of dracula)

Horror of Dracula. Even though Underworld was kind of fun, it's carrying that trend of "human vampires" which I can't stand. Vampires aren't even monsters anymore. They're more like ... highly evolved human beings. Thus, they are not scary.

movieman64 06-30-2004 05:39 PM

Horror of Dracula

Christopher Lee in one of his best Hammer films...IMO

The Underworld for me is a cross between Blade and The Matrix.

bwind22 06-30-2004 07:20 PM

4-1 Horror of Dracula leads Underworld!

Need more votes....

Steelsymth 06-30-2004 07:30 PM

Underworld.

bwind22 06-30-2004 08:35 PM

4-2 Horror of Dracula leads!

Need more votes....
