Moving on up.

Well guys it seems that I may have a chance the make it into the Detroit Tigers baseball team.
Yes you read right

I was pitching a couple fast balls and knuckle balls to my dad at a BB field and someone was watching and liked what they saw. They advised the Detroit Tigers farm league try outs coming up this summer. Wish me luck y'all.

Fantastic! Good job, Anglewitch!

What was this gentleman? he a scout for the Detroit farm league, or something else? Did you exchange contact info?

Not that you haven't already thought of this... I'd recommend looking him up online, confirm and find out who he is. If he's legit, then reach out to him very soon, while he remembers you, it'll show him you're serious. Have him give you contact info to whoever, or whatever office, that can contact to formally setup the tryout, get info and advice.

You could try to find a local who's done AAA to majors and work with them, make the most of the opportunity.

Best of luck!

Keep us posted.

No. He wasn't a scout. He used to pitch for the Elizabethton Twins hoping to make it into the Minnesota Twins but he damaged his rotary cuff or something like that. He liked what he saw and advised to go to the seasonal try outs for Minnesota or Detroit.

Even if I don't make it, I'll still have a good time and try again next time. The guy said he could have been wrong but he clocked my fast ball at 90 mph.

Just got my new Mizuno ball glove. It's a beauty. Only thing is for some reason even though description said baseball glove it turns out to be a softball glove. It will work though. Pretty comfortable.

Bloof 02-10-2019 04:22 AM

Well that's a game changer. Yes, like Deadbeat said, you have to keep us posted. Good on you!

DeadbeatAtDawn 02-10-2019 06:12 AM

Great looking mitt!

Definitely don't forget about me, would love a signed baseball card. ; )

anglewitch 02-10-2019 06:38 AM

I'll send pictures of me at try outs if dad takes any.

Morningriser 02-10-2019 07:12 AM

Congrats dude. I haven't watched baseball in Forever. Originally being from St Louis though it was religion at one point and my dad took me to two Cardinal games. Maybe you could be like that Voodoo guy from Major League to give yourself good juju going into your games ::big grin::

If you make it to the big leagues you have to go by "angle witch" or warlock.

I'm putting in an order for a custom Rawlings soon.

anglewitch 02-13-2019 03:16 PM

Rawlings has the best equipment. I can't get adventure glove from them right now cuz of my expensive arse car payments. :P

Whatever works, the softball glove sounds fully functional. Any local cities have any leagues were you could pitch? You know, like softball leagues, except they're hardball.

Got my new glove in the mail again lol. This one is a hell of a lot more comfortable on my hand and doesn't pinch. It's a shame about Mizuno, they seem to have gone down hill .

@sculpt.
There are a couple of sand lot games but if I am going to play for a league (which I want to and will) I'm going have to move. Lol

Can't beat pitching weekly or more in game. Maybe you could move temp until the tryout.

ImmortalSlasher 02-20-2019 12:01 AM

Softball is an odd sport. I played softball with a big ball and I didn't need a glove. It was an actual softball especially compared to a baseball. But I think these days the softball is actually pretty hard. Those girls leagues aren't playing with the type of softball that I used to play with.
