The Strangers... I dont get it.

This is rep'd a lot of times as one of the scariest movies out there. Me and the wife watched it a few years ago and I have to say, I don't get it. We were ready to turn it off about halfway through out of sheer boredom. I kept hoping it would get better, but it never did, it just dragged along. It was brutally unrealistic and just to damn slow. Eh, I just don't get it.

100% agree

200% agree. Horrorcrux, defend yourself.

Angra 03-31-2015 11:07 AM

It was pretty painful, yes.

I've never heard anything good about it tho. "Ills" on the other hand..

I can't explain why some movies make me physically uncomfortable, but this one did for some reason. I think what scared me most was the fact that they were in the house but you only knew where they were for about 2 seconds at a time... and the fact that there's 3 means that they can be in multiple places at once.

I feel better knowing that I'm not alone. Damn movie gets great reviews and all sorts of credit everywhere I look but I just never understood the attraction.

44% on rotten tomatoes isn't necessarily "great reviews".

Im not normally one to depend on reviews from "critics". I was more talking about horror fans like us. If you follow the link below to www.Bloody-disgusting.com you can see by the comments that people loved this shit. Normally the only reason I watch something that doesn't particularly look good is if people who I believe to be my peers and on the same wavelength say its good. This time, people where wrong.

Then there is the reviews on IMDB, which as I said I don't normally take into consideration but it almost seems like its either 1 star or 5 stars. The people who love it really rave about it.

The Amazon reviews are even crazier.

And there are plenty of reviews out there like this one...

Sorry, I didn't understand if you meant critics or fans ::shocked::

I thought The Strangers was a great movie, and I was really scared by it, but it wasn't perfect. The skeptical boyfriend character in every movie is always aggravating, and the intruders seemed to warp around the house at will. I really liked it because it was effective, even if it's a little unrealistic.

That's the beauty of our genre, you get to love things I hate and visa versa. To each their own and whatnot. Lol. Regardless we could probably both agree, when they make a second, it has to be completely different or it will fall flat on its face. It would be way to easy to just repeat the original with a new cast and a new location.

Horcrux, we actually agree!! I also enjoyed The Strangers. I liked the suspense of it and how the intruders were basically a deranged family.

"Why are you doing this?"
"Because you were home."

Don't understand the love for this either...just found it bland. And home invasion stuff DOES scare me, especially in HENRY;PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER.

Henry was wicked, and real which makes it even more crazy. But that's realistic home invasion. The Strangers was just predictable and bland like you said.
