Leprechaun Origins (2014)

Looks like they're going for a more serious approach.
So far it looks like a typical crappy monster flick.
I would have preferred another comedy starring Warwick Davis.

Thumb resize.

As a fan of the franchise I will probably give this a look but WWE studios?? I hope Leprechaun isn't played by HHH (not kidding)! ::big grin::::sad::

Angra 07-26-2014 04:24 AM

Sure you've found the right pic for that movie??

::sad::

Watched Oculus recently.
Also WWE studios. Not a great movie but the production was quite good.

Unfortunately, I am.

I'll probably watch this but think I'm going to regret it.

Bearded_Menace 08-02-2014 04:23 PM

Honestly, there really isn't a need for another one of these. I agree with Baron that if they have to make another one it should be more comedic. The monster design looks terrible!

Oculus was produced by WWE studios. It's one of my favorite horror movies that has come out in a long time.

But it's a Leprechaun movie. I don't expect anything from it.

The Bloofer Lady 08-02-2014 06:12 PM

Looks good to me. Sort of a" Pumpkinhead" vibe to it.

eklypised 08-14-2014 06:57 PM

oh shit. had no idea they were comin out with this. As long as its not in the hood I will def be watching it.

Baron Von Marlon 08-26-2014 05:09 AM

Movie's online.

I'll probably wait for subtitles...

Damn Heathen 08-26-2014 05:37 PM

It is disappointing that the leprechaun is shown only in blurs and swirls, as the makeup is great. The rural set was well chosen, and the young actors did a respectable job. This could've been a nice little creature feature were it not for the ham-handed direction and, yes, the overused annoying Leprechaun-vision (geez, it's not Predator).

Baron Von Marlon 08-26-2014 09:39 PM

My remarks:

-I was intrigued at first by the origin story. The stones, the cave, the books,... Could have been great: old village, ancient evil,...

-Some things don't make sense:
-Leprechaun is angry over stolen gold so he needs human sacrifices until the debt is repaid?
-Leprechaun tries to sneak on people as they approach the house, at this time the sun is still up. After that the Leprechaun decides to wait till it's nighttime before he tries again.
-Dad guy mentions it came to the village in the past. Why didn't they just kill it? You'd think a group of men with shotguns would do the trick.
No, you'll need an American girl with a machete for that.
-About a dozen leprechauns are seen in the grass at the end.
Where were they during the rest of the movie?

I think they were trying to keep it more mysterious like in Alien.
You get a good view of the creature in the end.
Leprechaun-vision was dumb indeed.

Why would they need to keep it "mysterious" if there's been 6 movies before it?

I was excited to watch it after seeing that one movie poster featuring the creature's mug. ::big grin::

This flick does feature the most outrageous pre-kill line since that notorious "Cuz" line in Texas Chainsaw.

Because this movie has nothing to do with the others.

Geordie9 08-27-2014 08:12 AM

Ive just got this but now ive been put off! I'll still give it a watch though.

Damn Heathen 08-30-2014 10:14 AM

Hold on to your shamrock, there's a new unrelated leprechaun horror movie coming out called LEGEND.

Baron Von Marlon 08-31-2014 10:01 AM

There was talk about Vamprechaun or Vamprichaun with Warwick Davis.
Sounds so bad it has to be good.

http://bloody-disgusting.com/news/32...-by-a-vampire/

And as I was googling it, I found this:

Vampires vs. Leprechauns (2015)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2392449/

Could be fun too.

This idea is fail-proof. A vamprichaun that bites ankles instead of necks? I just fell out of my chair. ::big grin::

It's on Ytube, and what I just spent 30 seconds watching was so abysmal that I couldn't be bothered to skip forward to any scene that might resemble the biting of an ankle. Damn you, internet!

On a tentatively positive note, there's a movie in development titled THE ANKLEBITER, about a zombie baby.

Geordie9 09-01-2014 08:28 AM

Just finished watching Leprechaun Origins, didnt think it was that good.

oz_horror 09-03-2014 08:39 PM

My partner got me this movie as I am a huge fan of the Horror Genre. I have to admit it is still sitting on the shelf waiting for me to put it in, but am now having doubts after reading this thread.

Oh well I should watch it and leave my thoughts on it :)
