HAMMER'S GODZILLA !?!
Needless to say as Horror movie fans we're always glad that Hammer made those awesome Dracula & Frankenstein movies with such great actors like Lee & Cushing back in late 50s through 70s that we can still watch today over & over again. But have you ever wondered...What if...besides or instead making of those DRACULA & FRANKENSTEIN films, what it'd be like if Hammer somehow bought the rights from TOHO and (also) launched a Godzilla franchise!!!
Don't get freaked out on me if you think what a ridiculous load of rubbish I'm talking about...?!? The thing is a crazy fanboy inside me made me think of this while lately one day I was just going through the list of Hammer Horror in wikipedia & some titles just right away bugged me...and as lately I've been also in a Godzilla-fever...so instantly this 2 things just struck into my mind and made me do this... I know I'm not good at this stuffs. Just did if for fun with the help of this Godzilla Poster Creator site and thought to share it with you guys...hope you'd 'enjoy the fun' ::smile:: http://i346.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps6c27bffd.jpg (Title Inspiration: Dracula Has Risen from the Grave) There are 4 more... |

Is this a fight that's going to happen? PPV?
|
Pay Per View is fine with me, just don't let SyFy get a hold of this idea or it'll be Hulktopus vs. Zillnado... or some such nonsense.

Idk british Godzilla? Hammer was a great company but i don't know how well they would have done the Godzilla films. Like NE has said before, it doesn't really work outside of Japan. However i still would've liked to see what they could have accomplished.
|
I agree that a non-Japanese Godzilla film seems a bit like a Viking martial arts movie.
That said, the British have always brought a certain amount of intelligence & respect to odd or horrific scenarios; Village of the Damned [1964] and so on. If a European Godzilla franchise had to be made, I think I'd like to see the UK have a first go at it. |
The Atomic Rites of Godzilla sounds like a blast. ::cool::

Slightly Off-Topic:
The closest Hammer & Toho came together was to co-produce a giant monster film back in 1976 called Nessie. Too many delays caused the project to be finally shelved in 1979. http://psychobabble200.blogspot.in/2...tudios_04.html |
Hmm, I actually really quite like that idea - barring what's already been said about Godzilla only REALLY working in a Japanese context, it is interesting.
Whilst Hammer brought the abject, gothic qualities back into Horror Cinema, I nonetheless think that a Hammer Godzilla would primarily be a film about human drama and suggestion - hell, you could quite feasibly never even SEE Godzilla; just his footprints, scenes of destruction, his shadow etc. No doubt he'd have some kind of human worshipper/scientist who works REALLY as the primary antagonist. I'd love to see Godzilla rising from the North Norfolk coast, though. Passing the Victorian piers of Great Yarmouth and Cromer and destroying the tacky amusements. |

I am so sorry Roshiq, I just realized I made no comment whatsoever on your posters. (That was an oversight on my part.) I love them all & would hate to pick a favorite...
...but, if I had to pick a viewing order, I'd start with the Monster From Hell. ::cool:: |
I don't know... the fangirl in me wants to say that of course they could have done Godzilla, but honestly I'm not sure ::big grin::
I'm thinking that maybe we're just so used to seeing Godzilla in certain settings that we can't imagine it any other way, but that doesn't nescesarily mean that it wouldn't work. There's that old Danish monster movie, Reptilicus... very weird movie, but even though it's definitely the only one of it's kind (Danish monster, sci-fi or horror movies are a rarity!), it wasn't actually as strange as I thought it would have been to see a giant reptile wrecking my own country... even though it WAS strange ::big grin:: |

Anyway, glad to at least put some of you to give a thought about this & thanks for the appreciation for those fake posters.::smile:: Great poster & I've also kind of think about this too, T! But not only Hulk...An ALL SUPERHERO Team up to save the world from Godzilla's rampage...where Hulk would go first but strangely goes traceless after the very first meeting with G. Then Batman would come up with a plan with a few inputs from Aquaman where he'd send Superman, WW & Thor on a some kind of "Last Hope" mission. Meantime, Iron Man & Captain America would start an investigation & search operation about Whatever happened to Hulk? ::wink:: |

Godzilla films try psychic mediums for control. Clearly, Godzilla is an aquatic creature & clearly Aquaman telepathically influences aquatic life. I wonder where that interaction could go in such a film... |
Oh no - they beat us to it!
https://www.mycomicshop.com/search?TID=175901 Apparently, Godzilla spent several issues in the Marvel universe during the late seventies fighting the Fantastic Four, Thor, Iron Man, & even Spiderman. Ugh. ::sad:: |
And here it go guys...A TRAILER FOR HAMMER'S Godzilla Must Be Destroyed!
Though kinda too long for a Hammer trailer but still I wish I could have made it more "believable". Not completely satisfied with the editing, done it in one sitting. Hope you'll like it ::smile:: |

roshiq, that's awesome! Good job!
|
Talent runs rampant here (as well as Godzilla!). Great stuff.

i put a 2 hour radio show together every week. it's a process. what you have there is an excellent first step in the process. Second step is a lot more fun. It's about what is exciting and stunning to you; the motion and power of the images. i can see some budding talent. But you have to enjoy it and sink into it.
