Post pics of your collection.

If you have your collections on display anywhere in your house, whether it be DVD, VHS, Vinyl, Toys, Video games, whatever, I wanna see 'em. I'm sure some of you have absurdly big collections. I finally got all the DVDs on display in my house.

heres a few pics of my nerd shrine.

Heres what I have set up now. Big shelf is strictly B movies and Horror. Tower to the left is action movies and westerns. Thats an Atari 2600 from 81 on top of the shelf next to my cat Nugget.

Fangoria issue #1 and issue #100 signed by HG Lewis, Tom Savini, Linnea Quigley and Kane Hodder and others.

An ottoman where I keep DVDs I dont have room for yet. also my PS1, N64 and Sega Genesis in the background.

Im sure you guys have collections to put this one to shame, lets see em!

Great collection and the posters with autographs look good too :) I'm in the process of a house move but when I've unpacked and sorted everything out I'll put up some photos.

Hi, Nugget!

I'm not organized enough to be a collector. I'm surprised Urge hasn't jumped in. ::wink::

if you walked into a Blockbuster video store [ remember video stores?]....then that would be like half of Urge's collection

urgeok2 01-07-2014 10:14 PM

its a little embarrassing actually…

i've put all digital media into a spreadsheet .. this includes DVD, HD-DVD, Blu-Ray and Laserdisc.

I have 8303 entries. box sets (one or more movies/TV sets) only count as one line item - so there are probably well over 11,000 titles.

of those - 986 are horror. (well over 1000 - taking box sets/collections into account)

i've never counted the VHS or Beta - there are several 1000's of those.

As far as memorabilia and posters go - god knows.

I'll put up photos some day - but it'll just make me look crazy. (crazier)

Somewhere on here is a picture of your media room. You posted it not long after it was finished.

it's mostly vinyl, but to the right and left (and over top) is VHS.
Big box VHS to the right

this is the top third - it goes all the way to the floor

Elvis_Christ 01-08-2014 08:09 PM

Love all the vinyl. Very nice looking turntable too.

Downsized my movie collection pretty ruthlessly trying to slowly make a concise one. Unfortunately lost a bunch of VHS to mold so that set the ball rolling for a mass cull.

urgeok2 01-09-2014 02:17 AM

it's an old Thorens i found at a cash converters years ago ..

very happy with it

I'd love to pick up some vintage stuff. I've just got a cheap Gemini at the moment that does the trick.

Must be some great stuff on those beta tapes.

MichaelMyers 01-11-2014 01:10 PM

urgeok --- any photos of the book library on hand? Very impressive collection!

Cool, a fellow progressive and classic rock fan. I got big into Kansas and Beatles, but of course lots of Floyd, Zep and Stones. What's your favorite group/artists?

I'm old so I grew up with this stuff - it's my comfort music

My all time favourite is genesis but I also love Strawbs. 10cc Roxy music. Van dee graaf generator and marillion

Other than that - the soft boys. Tangerine dream
The Beatles belle and Sebastian Hooverphonic. And sparks
And about a thousand others :)

Where i do my writing and photo editing .

I used to do it in the basement office but it's overrun by toys and photography gear.

When i straighten that up i'll get shots of that too - it's where al the posters and other movie junk are

MichaelMyers 01-12-2014 06:08 AM

no prob - i take it for granted because i see it every day - it's nice to show it to folks that actually appreciate it - instead of the average person who can't understand the love of music, movies, and books to this degree.

there's a lot of $$$ tied up in there - but i've been collecting since the 80's and i never smoked or drank, and until the last 4 - 5 years - traveled much..

realdealblues 01-13-2014 06:12 AM

Very cool man, thanks for sharing.

I keep hoping one day I'll be able to afford to move back into a house just so I can have all my stuff in one place again. I've got about 2,000 books. Some are on shelves, some are in boxes, but most are in storage.

I had thousands of DVD's and VHS but I've pretty much ran out of space and sold them all off now. The only ones I still have are TV shows. I ended up just converting everything to high quality AVI files that are stored on Hard Drives which I can then connect to my PS3 and watch. Stuff that I really love and watch frequently though I've either bought on Blu-Ray or am waiting for a Blu-Ray release. I've got about 600 Blu Rays now. I've also been putting a lot of them in DiscSox to save space.

All my LP's are in storage. I still have about 5,000 CD's in my apartment though, but I've been putting them in JewelSleeves to save space. I like the JewelSleeves better than the DiscSox when it comes to CD's.

It kind of sucks not being able to really "show off" my collection anymore, but at least with some of these space saving devices I can keep less things in storage.

urgeok2 01-13-2014 06:40 AM

I wish my cds were more accessible - I'd love to have a room just for music.
Unfortunately they are crammed into those deep shelves ..
there's about 3400 of them - I had to put them on a database as well.

My next project is to put the vinyl into a database

I need to do the same. There's a shelf I need to clean and bag up properly too.
Think I'm hitting round the 2000 mark now... I'll be out of room in about 6 months I think. Dying to move into somewhere new and set a up music room!
