Insidious 3

Insidious 3 gets the green light

Quote:

Coming fresh of the back of a monster opening weekend in which Insidious: Chapter 2 banked a whopping $41.1 million, FilmDistrict, EOne and Sony are already developing a third film.

However, while Leigh Whannell is reportedly hard at work on a new script, it sounds as though director James Wan will not be along for the ride, after announcing that he plans to move away from the genre.

“I'm going to go on record and say I am finished with the horror genre,” revealed Wan in an interview with Moviefone. “The Conjuring and Insidious 2 are my two last scary movies.”

Whether or not Wan can be convinced by an incredible script/lucrative offer remains to be seen.

What The Hell WHY

What happened? Its the fundies! God-dammit! I was just starting to like horror again :(

The Villain 09-22-2013 04:31 PM

As long as Whannell is involved, i'm sure it will still be good

Damn Heathen 08-27-2014 03:31 AM

I found Insidious a tad too tame, given the premise, but Pt. 2 really brought forth some necessary plottage regarding the Further while maintaining the horror throughout. Whannell recently stated that he has simplified the plot of Pt. 3 to recapture the vibe of Pt. 1. I suppose that means focusing on a familial ordeal outside the Further, which leans the whole too far toward drama for my tastes. That said, I am interested to see how Whannell fares in the director's chair.

I'm really looking forward to his "Cooties" later this year. ::big grin::

Think it's gonna be a blast.

If I'm not mistaken, Cooties also has a first-time director. It reminds me of another recent movie, the name of which escapes me.

tfantasy 08-31-2014 12:58 PM

I'll watch it but I did enjoy the 2nd more than the 1st one.

RadioactiveCinemaCult 09-08-2014 09:40 PM

Insidious Part III.

So we see more The-Red-Face-Demon-Dude? (Also known as Darth Maul and Lipstick-demon).
(SPOILERS) Elise's face in the end of the part 2 [not really a big spoiler] but it implicated and felt like she saw an "old friend". (END OF SPOILERS)

I don't see directors change as a bad idea. I am really looking forward to this after liking the first and second one.
I bet that there is a new family, who has these "paranormal experiences" and they need desperately help.
Then our heroes Specs and Tucker come, to solve the cases.
(Seriously, these guys were one of the best characters in this series. And Elise was awesome too.)

Maybe we learn more about the dark and mysterious, The Further?
Or we just hear the same story again, nobody knows, right now.

I really enjoyed the first one, the second I found really boring... so I'm not that excited for a new one. It's a pity that James Wan is quitting horror - he had potential.

utahman1971 10-17-2014 05:58 PM

Sorry, did not even like the first one, and did not even watch the second one, and not going to watch this one if it is released. They suck, and James Wan is why I don't watch PG-13 horror any more.::mad::

Sneak peek coming tomorrow!

horcrux2007 10-23-2014 08:47 AM

First official trailer!

roshiq 10-26-2014 07:25 PM

Looks better than Chapter 2!

Angra 10-27-2014 03:27 AM

I just have my worries when it's not James Wan in the directors seat this time.
But then again, it could actually benefit the 3rd installment, if the former actor/writer knows what he's doing that is.

How far can you go

Hi,
Insidious 3, then four, five, six...? how far can you go with a franchise, I thought the first one was good, the second so-so, as with all things, it has a shelf life, with each new instalment you have to keep stretching the bounds of probability, and find something new to shock your audience, the difficulty is, it has all been done before, how many times can you use an invisible entity, a hideous red faced demon, toys that come to life, (you get my drift), and this is the problem I have with modern horror movies, they rely too much on visual scares, rather than being more subtle, Hitchcock was the master at suspense horror, Psycho proves the point, how many people believe you actually see Janet Leigh get murdered in the shower, you don't, what you see is her screaming at an unseen intruder, then the classic piercing score plays, and then we see blood gurgling down the drain, and yet, such was the brilliance of the directing, such was the brilliance of building the suspense, we actually believe we see her get murdered, it is that which modern horror needs, I thought the Blair Witch project played brilliantly on what we didn't see, and yet for me it had a real creepy feel to it, a great film, I must say however, my partner had nightmares for days after seeing red face in the first insidious.

horcrux2007 11-03-2014 09:45 AM

I really don't think the point of the Insidious series is to scare the audience, although it does do that. It's created a sort of mythology with The Further, astral projection, and the villains themselves. However, a series like Friday the 13th, in my opinion, is just to show off "cool" death scenes to the audience with as little story as they can possibly squeeze in.

I'm sort of split on showing and not showing the villain to the audience. I thought the red-faced demon in Insidious looked great, but in something like Mama, the villain looked crappy. I think it just depends on the movie.

cant wait for this one, have really enjoyed the others.

tfantasy 01-29-2015 04:22 PM

Me too ::smile:: !!

NightOfTheLiving_Sam 02-21-2015 05:35 PM

I'll check it out since I've seen the first two. I've always been a fan of Supernatural horror. I hope this movie doesn't let me down.

Damn Heathen 02-25-2015 12:30 AM

The trailer does nothing for me. Loved Chapter 2, but considering this is a prequel to the Pt. 1, I'll wait for the stream.

Amalthea_unicorn 02-25-2015 01:01 AM

Looks good.

Gears-of-Warren 03-28-2015 08:48 PM

Insidious Chapter 3

We should expect good things from the third chapter of this series, for our good friend from Monster Squad plays the villian.

He hasn't change much since then.

Thumb resize.

Damn Heathen 03-29-2015 07:00 PM

Wut?

I'm confused too.

Gears-of-Warren 03-29-2015 11:57 PM

I apologize, folks. I meant to say that the actor who played the mummy in Monster Squad (Michael Reid MacKay) also plays the main villain (The Man Who Can't Breathe)in Insidious 3. He was also in several other genre favorites, such as Se7en.

Damn Heathen 03-31-2015 05:01 AM

In the latest trailer, he looks more like The Man Who Can't Take a Shit, which actually fits right in with the cross-dressing ghost from the last installment.

Gears-of-Warren 03-31-2015 07:02 PM

Yeah, I guess I can see that. He looks very ominous, like a cross between the guy in Bloody Valentine and the old guy in Poltergeist II.

Gears-of-Warren 04-05-2015 12:51 AM

I dont like the producers trying to combine Insidious and Sinister. Theyll end up worsening each series.

Gears-of-Warren 04-05-2015 08:14 PM

Wilson is hard to replace. I hope the nu guy doesnt blow it.

Gears-of-Warren 04-07-2015 04:33 AM

I am so happy for this! ::cool::::cool::

Please let it arrive soon! ::mad::::mad::

Gears-of-Warren 04-09-2015 04:29 AM

This time (in Ch. 3) theres gonna be some outdoor scares. At night.

::devil::

Gears-of-Warren 04-21-2015 11:53 AM

Happy that franchise will continue with Chapter 4.

::cool::

::cool::

horcrux2007 04-21-2015 11:55 AM

Where was that ever said?

Gears-of-Warren 04-21-2015 08:00 PM

Producer. You not worry but enjoy sequel. Part 4 be DTV if Part 3 poor in sales but happen whatever result.

horcrux2007 04-22-2015 06:38 AM

If Chapter 3 continues growing the mythology and isn't a rehash of chapter 1, I'll be more than happy for a chapter 4.

It grows further in 3 and will expand your mind through darkness.
