Beer
Now that Samuel Adams Octoberfest is gone for the season, what should I fill my fridge with now? Yes, I'm looking for suggestions/recommendations. If I could get just a 12-pack (or case) of Samuel Adams Chocolate Bock, I would. But, they don't sell it on its own.

The Sam Winter Lager is very good. Also am a big fan of Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale

just for the record
BEST THREAD TITLE EVER |
I was just on Sam's website, and they have a new beer, Merry Mischief
http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u...rymischief.jpg Looks interesting! It says "Not Your Mother's Gingerbread". I'll let you know if I find any. Yeah, I thought you'd like the title of this thread, newb! Plus, I knew I'd get at least one answer! LOL! |
Oh, and thanks for the rec of the Sierra Nevada. I'll see if I can find it.

You can't go wrong picking up the twelve pack of Sams Winter classics
the 6 beers included are pretty great. at least they got rid of the Cherry Lambic that use to be in there |
I'm really liking Blue Moon Winter Abbey Ale.
Magic Hat does a good winter brew, as well. |
for something different to warm you on a cold winter night, make a batch of these....they taste just like apple pie
1 gallon apple cider 1/2 gallon apple juice 2 cups sugar 5 cinnamon sticks 2 cups Everclear alcohol Prep Time: 10 mins Total Time: 25 mins Heat first three ingredients to dissolve sugar. Once it has cooled, add 2 C. Everclear. Add 1-2 cinnamon sticks per glass bottle. Pour into glass bottles. Makes 2 1/2 Gal. the wife made this last month....they went pretty quick:D |
Hmm, a friend is having a party in a couple of weeks - I just might make that! Thanks, newb!
And, thank you Atraxi for the recs! I'll definitely give the Blue Moon a try! |
No problem! Thank you for making this thread, I already love it.
Also, to keep you warm on a cold winters night- Hot chocolate+peppermint Schnapps. |

I'm going to have to keep a list of all these recommendations. I don't have enough room in my fridge for all this beer! :p

A couple of my favorite winter brews:
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KWKlJ-mv2q...Ale-bio_bg.jpg Anchor Christmas Ale 2012 http://cdn.pastemagazine.com/www/blo...1/26/rogue.jpg Rogue Santa's Private Reserve http://beerohbeer.com/wp-content/upl...2/IMG_1439.jpg Samuel Smith Winter Welcome And then if you like really dark beers, you can't go wrong with Founder's Breakfast Stout or Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout to warm you up on a chilly winter night. |
This is great! Thanks for all the recommendations, everyone! As I try them all, I'll let you know my thoughts on them.
|
another really good one
http://www.luekensliquors.com/images...TOUT%206PK.jpg THIS THREAD IS MAKING ME THIRSTY |
LOL, me too, newb! :p:D
Four more hours til I get to go home and imbibe! |
Also agree with Fortunato on the Founders brews
I only had a couple of theirs but they were very good I'm on the lookout for their Breakfast Stout |
I have never been a big Sam Adams fan, after reading through the suggestions there are a few I'll be trying. Most likely the Blue Moon Winter Abbey, since I like Blue Moon. Although that reasoning didn't exactly work in my favor before with Newcastle, I didn't much care for Newcastles Werewolf, too bitter for me.
The only thing I can really add to this thread is that Total Wine > Lee's |
Ok....so I had no choice but to seek out the damn gingerbread stout from Sam Adams....found it.
Very good and pretty smooth for a 9% abv. But at $7 for a 22 ounce bottle....This will be a special occasion brew. also grabbed a six of the Harpoon Chocolate stout which I shall make disappear over the weekend:D |
I didn't make it to the liquor store last night, was too tired after work. All I wanted to do was go home, have some dinner, and veg. I'll try tonight.
